If it is from the womb then it is not natural or nature. The womb is an environment because a fetus can survive outside that environment and in another incubatory environment. Nurture is who the environment affects the individual.
"The sum of environmental influences and conditions acting on an organism."

Tafadhali 12-17-05, - 06:40 PM Waiting on your after prison homosexuality proof.
When I was in school I would catch the greyhound to Miami all the time and for some reason their was always a freshlly released criminal come out of prison and they would always have candid conversation with me about their experiences. All this to say- those gays were gay before they wait in the correctional institutions they just never had a reason to act of their man craving desires. Take that and run with it.
A little off topic but, vicky theirs a movie coming out called transamerica or something to that affect I thought you'd be interested.

You mean the whole wide world like the AIDS crisis. Poverty Crisis. Economic Crisis?? Things like that?? When you can't feed your family or the population's resources are being depleted because too many are dying of an epidemic -- who cares if some clown can't decide if she/he wants to wear a skirt or pants.
The whole wide world has more important issues to resolve. I didn't see Vicky encouraging anyone to watch the movie "Yesterday" or "One Day in April" -- if you want people to care, then you have to care first.
Here, here.
bahmaboy 12-31-05, - 04:09 AM i dont have HBO so I wont be watching. not trying to sound conceaded, or high saditty etc but there is probably nothing in there that i didnt already know.
to everyone that said who cares: it is a important topic and if a person doesnt know the facts about gender and sexuality they will continue to have warped ideas on the topic. ie the bible says, so and so says. this website is generally filled with thinkers so keep in mind a ignorant person is a dangerous person.
the person who brought up the twin situation, there has been many more situations like this. indeed gender identity (the foundations of it) is something we are born with, we dont learn it. the reason why people get gender and sexuality confused is becuase although they are not the same thing they are very closely related. ie the male gender tends to crave females sexually vice versa. to the person that said there has been many reseach results that says otherwise i must say that research is flawed, i dont care who performed it but it is flawed
gender confusion, cross dressing, homosexualtiy etc is not normal, natural,or learned. this is the role, hand that "GOD" has dealt them (this is one of the reasons i now know for a fact that the christian concept of God and who is going to heaven and hell is definatly not correct, that is if these things even exist) so does that mean we should condemn, judge, not try to understand it and where the people who are experiancing these difficulties are coming from?
to those who dont care, i bet yall will care greatly if ur son, duaghter, husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, best friend. etc tell u they are confused about their gender, sexuality, or the like to cross dress. y it takes this kind of situation for "normal" people to finally understand the other side of this topic, i will never know.
all i could say to everyone is seek knowledge, truth, and understanding

Vicky 01-16-06, - 06:22 PM i dont have HBO so I wont be watching. not trying to sound conceaded, or high saditty etc but there is probably nothing in there that i didnt already know. There was something I did not know. Reaserchers in Holland (I think or Germany) Have found microscopic differances in the brain of transgender. They have located and docunented that in a male to female transgender have microscopic similarities to the female brain in the same are of the brain. Proof that is so solid that laws have been changed in their country.

Do you even know who Bayard Rustin was????
Let me give you a clue
Rustin was the chief organizer and logistics person for the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The 200,000 people who took part in the March have Rustin to thank for the orderly progress on that historic day's events. His passion for detail was of great value to the success of the event. It was at Rustin's urging that Randolph called for the march which culminated in the historic "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. King. Randolph referred to Rustin as "Mr. March".

When any of you are finished reading and researching Bayard Rustin see if you can convice yourself that the Civil Rights movement had nothing to do with homosexuality. It was low key but it was there none the less

Task Force mourns death of Coretta Scott King
'[My husband] believed that none of us could be free until all of us were free, that a person of conscience had no alternative but to defend the human rights of all people. I want to reaffirm my determination to secure the fullest protection of the law for all working people, regardless of their sexual orientation ... it is right, just and good for America.'
— Coretta Scott King at the Task Force's Honoring Our Allies award ceremony
'From the beginning, Mrs. King understood that homophobia is hate, and hate has no place in the Beloved Community that she and Dr. King envisioned for our nation and our world.'
— Matt Foreman, executive director, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 — The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force mourns the death of Coretta Scott King, widow of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., who died in her sleep overnight at the age of 78. Mrs. King worked tirelessly after her husband's death in 1968 to carry on his legacy of social justice activism. She was a steadfast ally in the struggle for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights, and was honored by the Task Force in 1997 for her support of the cause. In addition, Mrs. King was a featured speaker at the Task Force's Creating Change 2000, where she rallied hundreds of activists gathered for the country's largest LGBT rights organizing conference. In 2003, her son, Martin Luther King Jr. III, was personally responsible for inviting Task Force Executive Director Matt Foreman to join Mrs. King to speak from the podium at the 40th anniversary of the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington.

"Our community has lost a dear and courageous friend, someone who was there for us when virtually no one else was," Foreman said today. "From the beginning, Mrs. King understood that homophobia is hate, and hate has no place in the Beloved Community that she and Dr. King envisioned for our nation and our world. Our hearts go out to her family and to Lynn Cothren, her 23-year assistant and a former Task Force board member."
In 1997, upon receiving the Task Force's Honoring Our Allies award, Mrs. King told the crowd, "I accept this award as a reaffirmation of my commitment to carry forward the unfinished work of my husband, Martin Luther King Jr. My husband understood that all forms of discrimination and persecution were unjust and unacceptable for a great democracy. He believed that none of us could be free until all of us were free, that a person of conscience had no alternative but to defend the human rights of all people. I want to reaffirm my determination to secure the fullest protection of the law for all working people, regardless of their sexual orientation ... it is right, just and good for America."
At the awards ceremony, Kerry Lobel, then-Task Force executive director, said, "Mrs. King has stood shoulder to shoulder with us as we work to envision and create a world based on social justice. She embraces the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people as part of the continued legacy of Dr. King's brave work. Her progressive vision of peace and justice echoes around the world."
"Today we deeply mourn the loss of Coretta Scott King, who staunchly stood for the civil rights of all people, including the civil rights of our lesbigaytrans community of all colors, and who consistently challenged our own black community to understand that discrimination is wrong whether based on color or sexual identity. Civil rights is civil rights," said longtime activist Mandy Carter, executive director and a co-founder of the North Carolina-based group Southerners on New Ground.
"I'll forever cherish the day that I and Matt Foreman, representing our lesbigaytrans community, got to stand shoulder to shoulder with her on August 23, 2003, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington," Carter continued. "The 1963 march was organized by Bayard Rustin, a black gay pacifist who was instrumental in introducing Dr. King to concepts of Ghandian nonviolence, the hallmark of the civil rights movement. Thank you so much Mrs. Coretta Scott King. You've left an amazing legacy."
