Hello, I am Claudia, The current President of GGYA Exuma Unit. I am proud to announce that the Exuma Unit has finally been established and has a fully functional executive board. Now that we have started, we are now, unfortunately, facing the consequences of starting a new organization. We would appreciate any help we can get. Any donations or sponsers, volunteers, or just advice. We need all the help we can get.
The Exuma Unit is located at the L.N. Coakley Highschool. For more information, contact me or my advisor at the highschool or you can simply send me a message through this site or email me.:dancer2:

GGYA stands for the Governor General's Youth Award, which for those who don't know is an award scheme for young people of 14+. It was formerly known as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
There are 3 levels, bronze, silver and gold and at each level participants have to commit to a certain number of hours of community service, physical recreation and skills as well as taking part in a hiking and camping expedition of differing distances and duration. At the gold level there is also a residential project that must be completed.
There are units on most of the islands, mainly attached to the high schools which are organized and run by adult volunteers.
