Hi,

Great to see some one using the best forum software on the net.

I use a free asp forum script similar to this one but not as good. But it is free.

I am the founder and Chief Web Designer at Fast Sites, where the focus is on providing fast, simple and affordable web site solutions designed for small businesses.

Looking forward to seeing this forum grow and participating in the discussions.

All the best,
Gavin Knowles

Thanks allot for joining Bahamas Issues Gavin.

I choose Vbulletin because of its stability and extraordinary administration features.
As you should know, it was built on PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) which is very fast and it will be the next generation code for web-development.
Vbulletin is however very expensive to maintain and host because of the high amounts of bandwidth and disk space that it consumes.
I wanted somewhere on the internet where Bahamians can have a say on what goes on in this country and I didn’t want to put up a cheap website like some I see out there with forums that aren’t organized or looks unprofessional.
This site will be changing almost every day so the building process will never really end.
The membership of this forum is growing but it could be more if everyone who visits the site would take the time to register. I plan to make registration a very short process soon because I feel that some folks are intimidated by the long form that has to be filled out.
I have seen some of your work which is excellent and I am glad to see a fellow Bahamian setting a good standard on the internet when it comes to web-design. As you know, we do have some of unprofessional persons out there giving Bahamian webmasters like you and me a bad rep with websites that are geared towards negativity. So keep up the good work and continue to build positive sites.
Bahamabrands welcomes you and Fast Sites to this community.

Thanks again

Hi Delroy,

Glad to be here.

My name is spelt without an "r", just Gavin. :-)

Yes PHP is the next big thing. In fact it already has a great following.

I use asp to make things work. It's incredibly fast but takes longer to learn.

I like the PHP module system.

Vbulletin is the best out there.

I use an Access database with a SnitzForum (asp). It's free and almost as good as Vbulletin.

By the way, you might be interested in joining the Bahamas Webmasters Association (BWA). It's free to join. Join the discussions at: http://www.fast-sites.net/forum/default.asp

Hope to see you there.

All the best,
Gavin

Hey Gavin,

Sorry about the misspell. :(
I know allot of Garvins but no Gavins, only you.
I am very much interested in this BWA.
In fact, I was thinking a while back about starting something like it with that exact same name but I didn’t know that many Bahamian webmasters to kick it off.
I will sign up now.:)

I spammed a lot of Bahamian webmasters. I guess I must have missed you!:D

We have 15 members so far.

If you are interested in an active roll in BWA email me. We are always looking for moderators with forum experience.

Hey,

The bright side is that ASP is a Microsoft technology and this new .NET service looks promising.

I feel that Microsoft however cant compete for long with open source technology and will soon be defeated by software such as Linux and other up an coming programs.
