Unless all the spoilt apples(corrupt immigration officers, police oficers, RBDF officers, private boat captains, customs officers, etc) are terminated from the system then I don't see how this is possible. Besides Immigration does not have sufficient resources to handle the 300,000 sq miles of waters in the Bahamas.

International help may be of some worth but most all prosperous western countries are experiencing immigration problems. I think we should make use of those illegal immigrant with proven skills or higher education and deport the rest. We are never really going to solve this problem until EVERY nation of this world and their respective people have access to a better economic future in their homeland.

No they cant and I am not sure that they willing to take it on full throttle. It does not appear that they have the resourses or manpower to deal with either.

This is a very complex problem for the Bahamas and I feel that we have alowed it to get out of hand.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR IMMIGRATION TO HANDLE OUR ILLEGAL MIGRANT PROBLEM WITH SUCH HIGH PERCENTAGE OFF CORRUPT OFFICERS ON THE FORCE AND IN IMMIGRATION.BROTHER JEFF I THINK 80% OF OUR OFFICERS ARE CORRUPT.

it is about time for us take matters in our own hands,it is clear to us that goverment do not work for us they work for foreigner. bahamians are being taken advantage of in every sector of this society from banking, fishing, construction, water-sports and it does not end thier.we must do for are self by starting to have town meetings by are self and finding immirgrants and take police officers with us and make sure that matters are dund properly and carried out but not to be humind to them but it is obvious that somthing is wrong either and we all think it is corrupt officals and it is clearly seen.
we in the bahamas can see the custom officers, police officers defince force officers and immirgation officers living in 250,000. and up dollar houses driving in $50,000. cars and we can't see why we can't do anything wrong with the system we are blind we are teaching our younger generation how to theift we m,ust start now and start hard sand fire them all and get younger peps in therewho want to work for what they want .
a real bahamin cross

There is no way the immigration can handle this situation alone, I feel that this situation is way out of hand. I live in the inner city and believe me i see more foreigners than Bahamians all day, it is scary. We are outnumbered, although some people disbelieve this,I have seen my neighbourhood change into little Haiti, they have taken over the local food stores, gas stations, and everything else,
We have too much of them in immigration and the defence force, so there is too much familiarity, so therefore we need outside help without these ties.
We need plenty help, and it is costing us too much money to be sending them out a handful at a time, we need big military planes and boats so we can have mass exercises,
We need to do this asap.
I long to go back into my neighbourhood stores and hear Bahamian dialect again.:bahamas:

Why are people being so racist? Candy didnt mention illegal immigrants but Haitians (legal or illegal) moving into her neighbourhood and taking over businesses. Can you imagine if a white community in the USA used the same sort of language if black citizens moved into their neighbourhood! Please be careful what you say here because you could be accused of racism, double standards and downright stupidity in the most crass sense.

We all come from families of immigrant stock!

unfortunately i do not see the illegal imigrant situation being resolved any time soon. but why are they getting so close to our islands anyway? how wide of a perimeter are our marines keeping out there? i would love to see this situation rectified because it's putting a serious strain on our schooling system (i witness this first hand) and medical resources.

I think the Bahamas does not have a serious immigration problem. More workers are needed every day! The problem is for the people living in the Bahamas to take advantage of all the opportunities around them. For instance, it is 100% impossible to find a Bahamian gardener. If there was no Haitians, there would be nice gardens in the whole country!
