Not one of them is worth mentioning... de redhead 01-27-06, - 08:33 AM Who would you say is the "Best Commercial Bank" in the Bahamas and why? You sure do pose a lot of these types of questions, you sure you don't work for the registrar general in the surveys department. Just kidding, I think these types of threads are far more productive than most I have seen. chocolushcious 01-31-06, - 07:37 AM The best commercial bank in the Bahamas from what I see falls in the other category...It appears to be the "Hairy bank"...cause thats where a lot of people (woman gat toyboys these days) seem to invest their income.....They must be getting a really high rate of return cause thats where a lot of the money going...:dgi: garnelleo 01-31-06, - 09:26 AM Asu draw RockWell 01-31-06, - 10:39 AM Asu draw :shhh: Excalibur 01-31-06, - 12:16 PM How yinna does vote RBC? You need to fill out a form to use their bathroom, LOL. Too much paper work man and red tape. I like Scotia. Commonwealth, you walk out with money in ya hand the same hour you walk in. I'm impressed their interest rates are average with the rest now. No red tap but the red carpet and loans that you pay for the rest of your life. First Caribbean, NO WAY! I would prefer them separated and back as they were. Beside I'm upset the bank head office is not in the Bahamas being that we generate the most revenue. Also, they were trying to send allot of jobs overseas. Actually, keep this on the down low but allot of the calls you make to them are rerouted out of the Bahamas. If ya gat a ear the accent will prompt you ASAP. Don’t take my word for it, don’t call a branch but the general access number for the bank. Call Internet Banking; LOL! Bank of the Bahamas is progressive. Looking good. Fidelity Bank … who? Alien 02-01-06, - 03:29 PM Man Scotia Should be runnin away with this mannnnnnn :jawdroop: Great Demos 02-01-06, - 04:47 PM How yinna does vote RBC? Bank of the Bahamas is progressive. Looking good. Fidelity Bank … who? Yeah I agree with much of this. But I am wondering if its the Central Bank that causes some of these banks not to be up to scratch on some services. About 15 years ago the interest on fixed deposits at my bank was almost 9%, now its something like 4%. I asked one of the employees why there was such a big drop over the years and he mentioned something about the prime rate at the Central Bank causing it, whatever that is! But its probably a good thing for them to be strict with the "red tape". Right now I will bet anything its because we have a lot of bad pay people roun' here. But listen to this re the use of bathrooms. Once on a seminar in New York in 1980, I noticed they used to keep the bathrooms locked and everytime you wanted to use it you had to get a key from the recptionist or one of the regular employees who had a key. They said it was because an employee was killed in one of the company's bathrooms some years before. It appeared that someone was out to get him for some time but couldn't track him down, so they hanged out in the company's bathroom, knowing that he had to visit there at least once a day! It pays to be careful as these time are more dangerous than 25 years ago! Excalibur 02-01-06, - 08:30 PM Yeah I agree with much of this. Yea, they are paying peanuts for your/our savings. The Central Bank adjusts the rate based on the economy. Its all economics. If they need to increase the money flow/supply they drop the rate. If they need to do the reverse they up the rate. When interest rates are low people borrow more and investment is high. And the reverse when it’s high. It’s a macroeconomic device to balance out money. michali 02-01-06, - 08:43 PM Quote Excalibur "First Caribbean, NO WAY! I would prefer them separated and back as they were. I am glad you get an answer if you call.....I have never had the opportunity to hear one of their voices over the phone apart from the operator. You ask to be put through to a particular area and then it rings and rings til you get a message that the person you want is not at their desk and please leave a message. Then of course the next thing you hear is that this person does not have a message service...goodbye! It is so annoying. The credit card service is better and on one occasion, it was definitely someone with a caribbean accent who answered. I do not really care, as long as I get answers to my questions. I like FINCO ....good service. Excalibur 02-01-06, - 08:52 PM Quote Excalibur "First Caribbean, NO WAY! I would prefer them separated and back as they were. I like FINCO ....good service. I’m glad to get an answer too but contentiously being asked to repeater what you are saying is annoying. They (the phone people) don’t understand ma accent. I remember watching ZNS news as the credit card dept. of First Caribbean were fighting not to take the credit card section overseas (Barbados) because they alone generate 3 million in profit. Oh, want to get a laugh. Call a branch and ask for a student loan. They tell you if you want to borrow 15k you have to put up 15k. This bank is the worse, just from what I have seen. I like Soctia, RBC and Commonwealth. Jer 02-01-06, - 10:04 PM Who would you say is the "Best Commercial Bank" in the Bahamas and why?
