BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
Iraq's defense minister warned of the risk of an endless "civil war" as sectarian violence flared again on Saturday, killing over 40, as Sunni and Shi'ite leaders made joint pleas for a halt to four days of bloodshed.

With the gravest crisis since the U.S. invasion threatening his plan to draw down 136,000 troops, U.S.
President George W. Bush made a round of calls to Iraqi leaders on all sides urging them to work together to break a round of attacks sparked by the suspected al Qaeda bombing of a Shi'ite shrine on Wednesday.

Those leaders then met, joined by the U.S. ambassador. After three hours of talks, they appeared live on television to affirm their commitment to U.S.-sponsored efforts to forge a national unity government and call for an end to sectarian strife.

Earlier, as a traffic ban around the capital was extended to Monday following attacks on Sunni mosques and car bomb in a Shi'ite holy city, Defense Minister Saadoun al-Dulaimi said: "If there is a civil war in this country it will never end.

Buddy check your history, this story will only end one way.And it's the Bushies fault all the way,the democrats didn't invade Iraq, they did.In the words of Malcolm X *its just the chickens coming home to roost*.Also quoting that wise ol general C. Powell, *Mr President you break it you bought it*. You see Powell studied military history and he saw what happened to Britian when it invaded Iraq and knew the same thing would happen again.

The liberal media would love to show you shades of Vietnam allthough to some extent they do have similarities but the war was needed.
The blood of those soldiers are worth it for world peace.
I cant say that enough..

I am not American, but appreciate them taking the sacrifice for the rest of us.

This war is in no way similar to Vietnam, but in the way it's playing out, it bears all the same characteristics of Britian's invasion of Iraq.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
President George W. Bush, hit by polls showing America's support for the
Iraq war at an all-time low, denied on Tuesday Iraq was sliding into civil war, despite the worst sectarian strife since a U.S. invasion.

The decline in Bush's public approval ratings came as he told Iraqis they faced a choice between "chaos or unity" amid violence that has dented U.S. hopes for the stability needed to pave the way for a U.S. troop withdrawal.

At least 60 people were killed in Baghdad on Tuesday in the latest in a series of deadly attacks following the bombing of a major Shi'ite mosque last week.

Asked what Washington would do if civil war broke out in Iraq, Bush told ABC News: "I don't buy your premise that there's going to be a civil war."

He said he had spoken to leaders of all Iraqi sects and "I heard loud and clear that they understand that they're going to choose unification, and we're going to help them do so."

Despite that, sectarian bloodshed has complicated efforts to forge a new unity government.

From day one when Bush camed to office he had low polls, it was after 9/11 and his response to it that his poll numbers when up. I guess that is safe to say, the public is with you when the going is good, but when there is a challanage as is the way it is in Iraq now they baoil out on you.

Talking about ....good weather friends ..., the American people, yes they are.

But I must give them credit for despite it all, they saw John Kerry as one who lack the intestinal fortutide to stand firm and have the courage of his convictions as say, George W. Bush. Like him or not, that is his greatest strenght, he driven by his strong beliefs in what he really believes and knows.
