Alien 04-11-06, - 09:25 PM We care about stupid politicians, and poor haitians.
But we can't muster up a fake interest in our kids?
I put this up for more than one reason, and I have been posting threads in order to cleanse the board of all of the vile and rancor.
We need to pull together on things that can bring together all Bahamians.
Who's with me?!?!?
:)
michali 04-11-06, - 10:01 PM Good post! I work closely with the Crisis Centre so please remember you can call there too if you know of any suspected cases of child abuse....any form of it. We put up a recent exhibition in the Mall at Marathon giving lots of information on positive parenting and I hope it was helpful.
The number for the Crisis Centre is 328-0922....it is a 24-hour Hotline
Alien 04-12-06, - 09:08 AM Thanx michali.
There are scores of kids who are abused, who live in the child care homes.
And heaps more who go un reported.

and please remember to spend at least 30 minutes a month with your child's teacher...your kids will not only benefit from this, but it keeps you ans the teachers accountable in the education of your child...

my mommy says that this is something that she would be interesting in doing...are their training classes for people who would like to make a career out of this?
michali 04-12-06, - 03:53 PM Thanks for the interest. We do offer training for volunteers. That would help in other areas of life too....social work, teaching and so on, as well as just being more aware of the amount of abuse against men, women and children. I guess it would be up to the volunteer to take that training and knowledge to whatever career area he or she would like.
The application form for volunteers can be found on the homepage of our website http://www.bahamascrisiscentre.org
The site also sets out the issues we deal with so it is helpful to look at the information. There is also a monthly newsletter which gives an ongoing idea about the activities we organize. Sorry, I do the site and the newsletter and, because of the exhibition, which took up alot of my time, there is no newsletter this month! However, there are back issues that can be accessed from the homepage and I will be putting up a new one at the end of this month.
Hope this helps. It is a cause close to my heart so please feel free to ask anything you wish. We are a private non-profit organization and are always looking for new volunteers.

I can't follow those suggestions they have though. My child has too many people who would want to express those same sentiments to her daily. If she noticed that every subsequent day she was hearing a new phrase fro 20 different people she would think we going crazy. I will think of my own message, so she will just think that those other 19 people are going crazy.

I tried that but had to stop.

why did you have to stop?
It's important that we as parents make sure we bond with our children from the minute they are born. They need to know they can trust us & come to us for help in any situation.

I seriously doubt that he's her father, unless she's a child from before the marriage.
