I am extremely disappointed in this cause, others should be held to account and seems as though only one or two would be the scapegoat.
It is a shame, let's see what happens in a few days.

so he will get away with murder...really?
what about the officers who set up this prison break...what will happen to them?
why did this take so long?
what about the other officers...will they be charged?...it seems like their trying to put this all on the escaped prisoners...
what about duumbo the criminologist...will his finally head roll...
God rest the souls of Mr. Brown and Officer Bowlesyour deaths wont be covered up!
nationbuilder 05-17-06, - 10:16 AM Interesting indeed. I think that more people should have been arrested, but I guess the Coroner and jurors had to work with what they had and not what they might have wished they had.

bahamiangoddess 05-17-06, - 02:30 PM Is that Magistrate losing her mind, has she forgotten the real purpose of a Coroners Court and the LIMITED powers that she has as a Coroner. Wayne Munroe will bring her to shame. Send your findings to the A.G'S office, it is their call not her's. She has overstepped her bounds ordering any arrests as a result of her findings. I so fully agree for continuous education for those in our judiciary. This should be very interesting!

I have to agree with you here. Those men knew what they were getting into when they broke out. The other inmates with the same opportunity to escape voluntarily went back to their cells after they realized that a guard had been killed, they knew what to expect also. Those prison officers were faced with a very difficult situation and performed as well as can be expected. Those three prisoners should have all met their maker that night.
Alien 05-18-06, - 02:33 PM I do not like the language of this article.
It is way to soft on the prison guard Mackey.
It says..."Prison Officer Sandy Mackey enters a police car minutes after the jury in the coroner’s inquest on Tuesday found him responsible for the murder of Neil Brown, one of the prisoners who had escaped from Her Majesty’s Prison on January 17."
Also, it shows Mackey walking into the police car, with no hand-cuffs and under his own power.
To me, the caption under the photo should have been;
"Prison guard found guilty of murdering prisoner Neil Brown"
With Mackey being led to the car in hand-cuffs, and not him being walked into a police vehicle via his on power.
Proper imagery is everything "bahamajournal".
Show that flickin murderer the justice he deserves.
Yes Brown was a killer, but that guard is no better and deserves to be treated like the killer he is.
:hammer:
TRuth1234 05-24-06, - 04:00 PM I am seriously dissapointed in the outcome of this case and the amount of time it took. What about all of the ppl who applied at the prison for jobs last september and are waiting to hear if they are hired or not. THIS ENTIRE SITUATUION IN MY MIND Was handled in the wrong way. if anyone knows when the prison will conclude the recruiting procedure that began last year let me kno

I read that the coroner didn't voluntarily forward the charges; Guardian I think.
I thought that the AG took the case from the coroner? This would be her (AG-AMG) perogative. In these days of supposed swift justice, I hope the officer is charged and tried in an open forum. If he did wrong, put him in C block with his buddies. Officer or not, he deserves a fair trial as much as the people deserve a fair trial.
