... vicky, considering the fact that I really consider this a useless thread and that stray dogs and cats are more important .. I really do not want to response... yet, let me add, I was clear, in my strong view been gay is a matter of choise... and of such you should NOT compare it to the serious plight of the handicap or any other disable///// SOON we will hear you all compaing it to the struggle of majority rule.. when will it stop...
When the desire come to have sex with animals.....
Do you agree we need to protect our stray dogs and cats.. do you think we have too much of them in the streets...
ALSO< Vicki, have I not shown you a great level of respect... yes I totally disagree with you ... but you always have my respect.. don't you ?

so let me get this straight (no pun intended) ur actually gay but you choose to be straight. or are you BI and you choose to be straight, or are you into cats, dogs, and bats but you choose to be straight?

well no matter what i think its great u choose to be straight

Wow almost missed a point thanks Bahamaboy.
Homosexuality and transgender are 2 very different things.

Transgender = people with gender dysphoria, and the many forms of hermaphrodism.

BTW there is now pathological evidence that those of us that are transsexual actually have differences in the brain structure thus not a choice.

Medical science can't bring the brain inline with the body there for the only other treatment option is to bring the body in line with the brain. It has nothing to do with who you are attracted to.

.... like I said people sexual lifer and choises are their business, (as a Christan) I cannot as a matter of faith and belief support gayness... so I let you be, you account to God for yourself... and maybe we can all support the rights of stray cats and dogs... do we agree ?

Now that is very low on your part.
Cats and dogs with rights and GLBT human beings with out rights.

I think youre wrong. The authour didnt lie about anything! and its not a tirade against bahamians...and how does the article paint bahamians in a bad light? we are NOT a tolerant society when it comes to homosexuality. you better get wit' it. youre in denial.

So true...So very true. It even seems that some members of the gay, tg, sgl community are likewise in denial. Bahamas has come a long ways but it is not a tolerant country on issues of homosexuality. In fact in some ways it verges on hostile.

i hope you're not referring to my post...
i certainly didn't refute that point...only that rosie cannot be an arbiter of rights and tolerance in the bahamas...

see human rights are kind of tricky...
everybody has to have their rights recognized...everybody....
so gay people have the right not to be marginalized from society...
and foolish people have the right to espouse their foolish views...
christians have the right to organize their special interest group as they see fit...
the biggest set-back to gay rights in the bahamas is that gay bahamians won't present themselves to be represented...
the laws support our cause...the police are more than willing to provide security for public demonstrations and protests...
but the biggest hinderance is fear from within the gay community...
we have to step past the fear...we can't expect bigots to give up their power/control....government relies on the fact that gay people won't present themselves as a visible, social and political force....

I find it humorous that we are having these discussions, so let me make it clear – God ordained sexually relations between a man and a woman. Period.
In the Bahamas Gay people have the same rights as anyone else in this country. But I caution those who want to right to promote a deviate lifestyle. They should keep it in the closet. Plain and simple.
No law promoting any gay lifestyle or rights has a chance of passing in this anit-gay country, (I am been honest and this is my point of view). All gay Bahamians know this.
The topic needs absolutely no attention. We have too much as a country to deal with right now, if you look around we have so much crime, so much stray dog, so much stray cats and have you noticed recently even lots of stay Bahamians wondering around eating out of the garbage bins.
It is an election year and all Bahamians are sure that we have at least three gays (two ministers and one MP in the PLP) and trust me; hell will bend over before they even peek out of their closet.
We have so much corruption, and on and on. And the most important issue to me is still immigration, the rights of Bahamians to work over that of imported workers. SO I think any discussion on gay rights is a sill debate.
It is a distraction. It is an important issue that matters to most Bahamians. We don't need any more distractions from debating the high cost of BEC bills, illegal immigrants. Let's face the tough issues and make some positive progress towards solving these problems.
The Bible is the bestselling book of all times. It is without error from the front cover to the back, including the word 'Holy.' For thousands of generations it has been made clear that a marriage/sex should be between a man/woman is between one man and one woman. God created Adam and Eve. The younger generation has been brainwashed with this thing called tolerance. With true Christianity there can never be compromise or political correctness. Heck, I even believe that divorce should be outlawed. It is my view that that would be a good way to protect marriage.
I get so concern when I see person who postulate that gay Bahamians need rights, rights for what. Are they different from other Bahamians. Yes we are all equal.
So if you do not want to talk about stray dogs and cats then let’s talk about strengthening the family by recommitting ourselves to the view of marriage that has served societies well for thousands of years. It takes the incredible arrogance of a cultural elite to think that we can do well to change the basic building block of society says a well known journalist.

So very well put. I agree with everything you put here word for word. And only we know personally the struggles involved in stepping out of the closet..... these struggles are only magnified in a place like the Bahamas were intolerance of homosexuality is so profound, where the idolatry of religions has perhaps overcome those with true beliefs and true religion. Not even to mention that Bahamas is like an extended family in some respects and everyone knows a little something about everyone else....aint many secrets kept for too long.....and gossip flys.

All that to say that there is no easy answer and it will begin with gay bahamians stepping forward. But we cannot minimize or try to dismiss the fact that Bahamas is a intolerant society and it like many places is not so hospitable and welcoming to gay people.

I find it humorous that we are having these discussions, so let me make it clear – God ordained sexually relations between a man and a woman. Period. Now thats a big claim do you have any facts to prove this? Or are you just talking about something you believe.
1 prove there is a God the Creator.
2 The prove the he created sexual relations to only be between man and woman.
3 Are you saying God the Creator could not create what he/she wanted?
4 Do you consider God the Creator to be all knowing and all powerful?

Prove it as fact and don't referance faith because faith is not fact.
Also If God the Creator created Adam amd Eve and the had Cain and Able. After Cain killed Able it says he went to the land of Nod and there he found a wife.. Please let me know what did he marry????? The younger generation has been brainwashed with this thing called tolerance. With true Christianity there can never be compromise or political correctness. Well you used christian references to try and prove your reasoning for your bigoted attitude toward GLBT and obviously you can't justify it.

You don't go around telling people you are str8 but it is assumed when you have a girlfriend or wife and there is no worry for you to walk down the road holding her had. On the other hand 2 guys walking down the street holding hands is a problem.
My wife and granddaughter playing in the water at the beach were verbally assaulted by a man thinking they were lesbians.

No I will never leave this alone as long as bigots can't live and let live.
