blackscorpion 06-03-06, - 05:38 PM Let me be clear for you, so that you can recognize my observation from personal opinion.
Observation:
What I am saying in respect to victims of homophobia in this country, most of the victims that I have seen have previously been flaunting their sexuality in front of people that they know strongly dissaprove. To use your comparrison to racists, YOU WOULD BE A FOOL TO WALK INTO A ROOM OF RACISTS AND AS A BLACK MAN, TO START DISPLAYING EVERYTHING, THAT IS TO BE BLACK, FROM LINIAGE TO STEREOTYPE. It would be the same for gay people.
Nobody asks you if you are gay, I have yet to see it on a Bahamian application, so why say so? Like I said in another thread, predjudices are everywhere, you live with it and you deal with it as this world isnt getting any close to perfect. Homophobia is not some petty predjudice like disliking people who like rock, or disliking people who listen to opera, it is a dangerous predjudice so why walk into it's death trap?
Victims of homophobia that I know of are all effeminate gays, and all were minding their own business while leaving a gay club or walking the public street and even doing their work while on their jobs ( verbally abbused and made fun off). None asked for it. Stevie Wonder could see they were gay.
I see bahamain men taunting and ridiculeing guys who are obviously homosexuals only when they are in the company of other guys; there always has to be spectators; why?
I once held the belief that "all men play unless their religeon forbids it". Get a man alone and convince him no one will find out and he'll be down with it. But I have come to meet a few who have nothing against it but wont do it because its not a turn on for them.
I heard some people say " The Bahamas is a christian nation--it has christian principles in its constitution", I feel proud when I hear that especially from my foreign friends, a lady friend of mine likes to remind me how please Bill Gates was with our Mother Pratts address some time ago. While many people cannot comprehend why a movie for adults was banned, they could apreciate why a "gay cruise" caused so much ruckus. It was'nt the first time an all gay cruise came here; but now they have to come under a banner announceing themselves members of a lifestyle that is forbidden by " a christian nation".
I think to a great extent people respect you depending on how you conduct yourself, they might disapprove of your sexual prefference but treat you the same as anybody else.
Are real men homophobic ? many bahamian straight males would feel quite uncomfortable conversateing or hanging out in the bahamian public with an effeminate or obviously gay male, why ? this always amuses me.

birds of a feather...if you choose 2 be a flamein gay, swishin, swayin and displayin a limp-wrist,you set-yourself-up as a target 4 violence, don't ask why it's like that, that's how it is worldwide, deal with it or keep your will in your back pocket.

They understand that, but they want to call us wrong.
While others will call them DOA.
:taped2:
Rights still can not stop death or a bullet.
:)
i-omega 06-04-06, - 11:43 AM i don't wish no violence or death 2 gays, what i do wish 4 gays is that they be more aware and cease from provokin none gays just cause you think it's your rights 2 act a fool and cut-up with men, there is no law natural or otherwise that stipulate that, please consider this, take what you can from it and disgaurd the rest, what you take is a seed 2 sow,and the fruit of that seed is another levell of wisdom.bless.

Such an enlightened community. I can just sit here and soak up the wisdom.
Are you also "faithful christians"....just wondering?

I think those are just examples of human nature...don't you?
I think men are agressive by nature, until wisened and mellowed by age...don't you? Consequently when men are young they are by and large intolerant and ready to strike out at a threat to their fraternal masculinity. As far as I can tell those quotes were good advice.:) BTW/ I een gat nothin against sissies...good luck to dem!

Yet again, someone trying to drag religion into an issue so that another round of bludeoning can be done on those with any belief. That's small minded and oh so old/worn out.
You're just trying for an enlightened, religious bashing response to i-omega and Y2K aren't ya?
Just wondering.

Just wondering.
Small minded to ask a question?
I am asking the question because I legitimately want to know the answer.
I too have belief so I am not interested in bashing those who also believe.
I don’t think I have ever bashed anyone about their religion.
Although I may question the depth/strength/integrity of those beliefs
However....it is not the first time I’ve heard such violent “unchristian” like language in reference to gays and other things/people and then seen someone include in their post something like what you’ll find in Iomegas: "I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn from the evil of created things, and those who cast evil suggestions in firm resolution, bless."
It’s a legitimate question and a legitimate point. Does intolerance have a religion?
Still wondering.......
I also find it interesting that you find my question to them insulting and you have choosen to respond to me and question me about it. But not a word is said about the violent nature of their postings.
interesting.

I am a man. I am young. I am aggressive. I am not prejudice. I do not advocate for violence. I am not intolerant.
How am i (just as an example) a threat to their fraternal masculinity?
Good advice? I think not. A real man is not one because of who he sleeps (or how many). I dont know how you define "real man" but unfounded fear, bias, feeling threatened by imaginary "sissies", prejudice, intolerance, ignorance, stupidity.....weak bravado.
I dont see any "real man" in any of that. Please point it out to me so I can see?
BTW/ I een gat nothin against sissies...good luck to dem! Now thats being real! (the sissie part throws me a bit.....but hey i think understand where u coming from).

It's small minded of you to ask such a question in order for it to lead to belief bashing response. You are just trying to set others up for recriminations.
To claim belief, wihle offering bait for other believers a chance to be criticized seems hypocritical.
You may not have critized before, but setting up others for such a thing seems two faced.
Yet again, your latest post draws attention to atttempts of gay activists to lead related issues into quagmires in attempt to stifle conversation. Good luck in getting the issue clouded in something ridiculous.

why not just say point blank i-omega is "unchristian?nothin wrong with that, you may also get puffed-up with pride and claim how nice and serene you are,i don't put clothes-on my words, even a child could overstand it,you chose 2 focus on the effect of the consequences as violence advocated, thats called spin,i'll give you credit 4 your past comments and i'm not gonna engage in no counters or rebutts at this time, did you miss on purpose my clarification 2 YK when i said on the same page on the same day"i don't wish violence or death 4 gays" or had you included that it would of nullified and void your charges? what do you think any reasonable person would say you're doin as a very christian, tolerable, nice person that you are?small-minded is pale in comparison,is it an evil suggestion you're castin?:dgi: :voodoo:
