Bahamasinmyheart 06-05-06, - 07:31 PM It's small minded of you to ask such a question in order for it to lead to belief bashing response. You are just trying to set others up for recriminations.
To claim belief, wihle offering bait for other believers a chance to be criticized seems hypocritical.
You may not have critized before, but setting up others for such a thing seems two faced.
Yet again, your latest post draws attention to atttempts of gay activists to lead related issues into quagmires in attempt to stifle conversation. Good luck in getting the issue clouded in something ridiculous.
Nonsense. Complete foolishness. ....and this i direct to you. I only ask a question. The answer is yet unknown. If the answer should lead to bashing responses and or recriminations then maybe the problem lies with the answer. Not the question.
Im not a gay activist. or a black activist or a haitian activist. Thats your attempt to define me as an "activist" because i believe in something other than you. Are you a hate activist? a bigot activisit? a christian activist? a heterosexual activist?
Your clouded argument to say that a question is an attempt to bait someone into some form of bashing is weak. Thats like me asking a racist if he/she hates negroes and him/her saying i'm attempting to lead them down a road to ridicule. Its not my question that will lead them there. Its their answer.
Is it a question you fear answering?
nationbuilder 06-05-06, - 07:38 PM I see bahamain men taunting and ridiculeing guys who are obviously homosexuals only when they are in the company of other guys; there always has to be spectators; why?
This has little to do with homophobia and more to do with the way young men behave in general when in the company of other young men. For example, a young man might be by himself and see a pretty girl pass by and might not say jack to her or make an advance.
But let him be around his friends. All of a sudden he will start shouting all kinds of things at the girl trying to come on to her - all in an attempt to impress his friends and get their pat on the back.
i-omega 06-05-06, - 08:37 PM Nonsense. Complete foolishness. ....really?then how is it that you followin verbatim,ya see it's old ,borin and passe 2 insert religious belief and most tellin cut and paste sound reasonin and try 2 legitimize your fabrications as "legitimized points"Madquoter is on the money bulletproof and thats on the 4shizzle,whatever it is "_inyourheart" and you know,if ya gonna bring it on Bahamas issues, bring it and come correct,if you gonna play hide and seek with Nationbuilder, you're tryin 2 evade the cold hard undisputed facts of life in the real world, that shouldn't surprise anyone cause you never had a snowball's chance in hell.:hammer:
RockWell 06-05-06, - 10:23 PM I say gays have the right to get a left, just like anybody who invades my personal space.:)

Vicky 06-06-06, - 08:00 AM Thats a Batelnet IP
Do a Trace Route on the IP.
More than Likely it is the Rainbow Assoc which is linked to in the article.
Like i said many times before, Wikipedia is a human edited website so take it for what it is worth.
Sorry not us that I know of may be a member though.
Vicky 06-06-06, - 08:29 AM That really annoys me. That entire tirade does nothing but try to paint The Bahamas and Bahamians in a bad light. It doesn't attempt to put any pressure on the government or any particular ministry. It just bashes Bahamians and our views. If the author of the piece feels so strongly and doesn't like the discrimination they should leave. I saw nothing constructive and no attempt to shame anyone in authority into doing anything, all they did was try to hurt the country. I wish I knew who they were so I could take out a full page ad with their name, picture and that article (possibly even where they work). Then they could receive nationwide disdain and see what real hatred feels like.
I am so glad you feel that way but what is said in that article is the truth.....
We have news clippings and video footage that proves it. I don't like it either and you can't blame the government as they are elected by the people. It’s the people that have to make a choice. Equality for all or no one is equal.
Gays are being killed in the Caribbean and the authorities are looking the other way. We are linked to the Caribbean in the minds of many. So as far as many are concerned the killing happened right at your door and you did and said nothing.
Remember GLBT have parents many have brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles cousins and friends. And out of those how many brothers, sisters, aunts, uncle’s cousins and friends won’t be coming to the Bahamas if this hate keeps up...
The beginnings of a GLBT world wide boycott of the Bahamas is starting.
The effect won't be that just GLBT won't come but their families and friends won't either. GLBT travel agents (I am not talking of GLBT working for GLBT travel co.) will steer people clear of the Bahamas. They will just say there is a lot of violence in the Bahamas....
Movie makers will think twice about coming ton the Bahamas to make a movie if for no reason but to protect the members of their crew that are GLBT.
This is not good for any Bahamian.
It’s up to the Bahamian people.....
Vicky 06-06-06, - 08:54 AM What right does a gay person dn't have in the Bahamas?:dgi:
No legal union (marriage) for one
No law protecting against open discrimination. Not even in the work place.
Vicky 06-06-06, - 08:55 AM You still buying into that rainbow hype. FYI: Those girls were put out of class for wearing mens shoes, thats all.A certain set of peeps tried to make more out of it than it was.
Uh you need to get your story str8 they were called gay shoes.
Vicky 06-06-06, - 08:59 AM what do u call "rubbing it in others faces"?
U mean living and dressing the way u want.
Speakin the way u want?
WHy should i hide in the shadows to make YOU comfortable.......what if i now turn around and say you rubbing your hetereosexuality in my face........yea sounds stupid right.
This isssue goes beyond what a person does in their bedroom.......ITS ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS.........GAY STRAIGHT BLACK OR WHITE
:hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:
Vicky 06-06-06, - 09:02 AM I dont know, there are some other places that get that kind of attention like Jamaica:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_rights_in_Jamaica
I haven't seen a person try to challenge public reaction to such affection (yet), but I do think people around here do try to restrain their opinions or desire to physically demonstrate their opinion in public, compaired to other countries and communities.
I see that it is only when a "call to action" of sorts is organized, i.e. Save the Bahamas Campaign, do people (in a group) really let everything out, and actually loose proper decorum over the whole situation, thus making us look like craze religious/homophobic nuts to the world.
You forget bishop Green and his threat to blow up parliament
Vicky 06-06-06, - 09:19 AM What I meant by that is people who go around on a campaign or display of sorts. Take for example Gay Pride or the recent cruise. The need to always come together in a group to once again remind the world that "yes I'm gay", just in case everyone forgot over the past 12 months.
I had to sit and wiat as a prade of C/christians marched past my drive way stoping us from getting on our way over Easter.
The need to always come together in a group to once again remind the world that "yes I'm C/christian", just in case everyone forgot over the past 12 months.
Really, I don't care how you live/dress/talk whatever else. There isn't a reall formula to what a gay person is and how he'she lives because you would be shoucked to know who is.
The point is some people are on the recieving end of homophobia because they brought it on themeselves. Not so none of this started until Stonewall http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots Some people carry around a huge bullseye, flashing around "pride" to the people who hate it the most (and in some cases they know who hates it too!).
Why can't I be proud of who I am and be protected by the law. Why should people wear FNM or PLP T shirts? Why should C/christians wear crosses???
Its all in your face is it not??
Vicky 06-06-06, - 09:21 AM tht as silly as condoning violence against people who are proud to be black by racist whites.
why should my sexual orientation offend you????? unless of course it makes u second guess yours.
u say u dont care how i live or dress and yet it seems to offend u if i decide to walk out of the house in a pink leotard??lol
the purpose of the "gay cruises" were not to draw attention to themselves but because of the mere fact that as gays they couldnt go on a "regular" cruise and feel comfortable........
:hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:
Vicky 06-06-06, - 09:28 AM Society does not accept homosexuality as normal. If you choose to display your homosexuality you will be perceived as abnormal. That is as true in The United States as it is here. If you can't feel comfortable on a regular cruise and cruises are notorious for their anything goes attitudes then that must say something about your lifestyle.
What offended me about the article though was the fact that a Bahamian (my assumption) would go out of their way to hurt The Bahamas and damage its reputation and tourism industry to push an agenda. It also burns me up when I consider that the culprit may be affluent enough to not be affected by the possible ramifications of such actions should the worst case occur. That shows a level of selfishness which I cannot let go unchallenged. They were wrong and if they were not ashamed by their actions they should have been proud to leave their names so they can see just how much we appreciate their efforts.
Sorry I see it as a warning to GLBT. Oh and this person did not hurt the Bahamas the Bahamain people hurt the Bahamas.
there words hurt the Bahamas.

Society used to see left handed people as abnormal to. Most of the US see homosexuality as normal get your story str8.

What? Say it again please....this time more clearly.
1. "Fabrications"? Which?
2. "Hide and seek with nationbuilder"? explain?
3. "Never had a snowballs hell in chance"? at what?
4. Do you fear defending your intolerance while defending your religious integrity?
