I watched a lot of roots when I was young. They cut of Cunta foot, so he wouldn't run away to be free.
But, dang, limes gone up for sure...and now a days then ain't even green, they brown....I tell ya hard times a go on.

your neighbours dont have a sour lime tree? ask them...you dont have no family or friends on the out island that can put some on the mail boat for you?

to me it isnt even about the scars but understanding your history and knowing the truth as not to repete it but we havent learned our lesson yet...all we do is cover up and try to hide or sugar coat the truth!...some unsuspecting and gullible person who doesnt believe in truth after verification wouldve believed what CG said took it and ran with it...and that would have been a travesty...this reminds me of another of his episodes where he speculated that all the "original bahamians" were killed of in our Bahamas...and there not here...they are here...but in modern day form...dont mean to beatup on ya cg sometimes you are too cavalier for your own good...but Im sure you understand and an apology to us in in order wouldnt you agree cg? in any event dialogue is a good thing...

Apologize? For saying the wall was a wall? I am sorry you all misunderstood. To you all (those that even know where it is) it might have taken on a reputation, but it is a wall!

the berlin wall was just a wall, the confederate flag is just a flag....nevertheless, it means something to somebody....

People are crazy.
1. When I make it back to Nassau I'm living in a gated community of one. With a drawbridge, moat, and electric fence. I have kids, so for me its better safe than sorry.
2. I can empathize with the sentiment that Bahamians are locking themselves away from other Bahamians behind these walls. But, the days when your grandmother could walk down to Ms Adderly dem corner shop to buy some salty and 25 cent cup are gone. I grew up all over Nassau. My grandmother had 60 grandchildren. 60!!!! So I have cousins, aunts, and uncles everywhere. From Kemp Road to Adelaide Village to Fox Hill -- everywhere. The first time I got into a fight I was 5 years old walking from St Bedes to Mount Rose Ave. -- I'm not talking about he pushed me then I pushed him back. I'm talking about him pulling a knife on me and almost sawing my arm off. Still have the scar, three inches long now but at age five it extended from my back to my chest. That was just the first of a dozen others. What's my point?? My point is yall are living in denial. Maybe you didn't grow up like I did. But you have to respect my decision to live my life where and how I want to. I mean yall are ready to let sissies live how they feel. But I can't have a gate??
3. Just because you born in the Bahamas don't mean its yours. When Bahamians start treating the Bahamas with respect, then they can claim it. How many time you see Bahamians on the beach having a picnic or party then leave their mess right there?? People pretending like they in the NBA trying to dunk in the trash can and when they miss, they expect the the trash to levitate itself into the trash can. Get real, I'm not paying 2 million for a house on the beach so a bunch of weed smoking dunces can come gallivanting around me and leaving a pile of kalik bottles for me to pick up. Call me elitist if you wish. I'm being real. When you start being real and enforce litter laws and noise pollution laws -- then we can talk. Until then, if you breathe at my house funny you better know how to do the Matrix.

I respect your opinion and I sympathize with the serious events that happened during your childhood. Bu t do you really believe that living in a gated community is going to protect you from crime.

My God you have to come out some time! Sometimes you have to go to the store or to the mall or to and from work. Who is going to protect you then??????? Crime my friend is a complex problem. I do not believe for one second that living in a gated community is going to protect you from that!!!

That is unless you plan to never leave home!!

When you leave your gated community home, you drive on to what is called a public street. Pray tell me who is going to protect you then????

I agree with you when you say that a lot of Bahamians are nasty and they pollute many beaches. But I think in that regard there needs to be enforcement of the law with respect to littering. For example if there were no penalty for robberies many more would do it.

SIMPLY PUT THERE IS NO ENFORCEMENT OF THE LITTERING LAWS IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!
This is the reason we have such a serious problem in that regard!! But one fact that you cannot avoid is that many modernized countries have provisions to ensure that the general public has access to their waterways.

I see NO Reason why the Bahamas should be an exception in this case!!!!

Gated communities though secure can provide a false sense of security! The Lyford Cay situation is a good example.

Lyford Cay residents were offended because the Police were constantly allowed to patrol in Lyford Cay. So the reinforce the idea that this area was private and they prevented the police from performing their usual patrols!!
With that move I guess they might of lost the sympathy of the Police.
And the crime situation was not the best since.

The security protected the gate well but on the side of the gate was a wall miles long but only about 5ft high. This wall was very easy to jump and that is exactly what the criminals did. They jumped the wall came through the bushes and gained access to the residents and their properties. As a result the community as we speak is in the process of constructing a bigger wall and fence to prevent would be criminals from gaining access in this way.

My point is Gated Communities are not fully safe and many of the residents still use the services of security companies!

But my main concern is that we cannot reserve the beauty of this island only for the elite. The rich may pump in millions but it was the working class that built this country!!! They have just as much right as anybody to enjoy its beauty and all that it has to offer. The rich financed the house but the working class built the house.
They are just as much citizens of this country as everyone else. I do not have the right to say to anyone because I make more money than you I am more entitled to the countries beaches and waterways or anything it naturally has to offer!!

What I do not like about gated communities is that it cannot be applied across to board. Suppose a rich man buys Yamacraw road and make it gated. And suppose another buys a stretch of the eastern road and makes it gated. Suppose another buys a big portion of Prince Charles drive and makes it gated and another buys a portion of Fox hill road and makes it Gated.

Tell me something!! How the hell are you people from gated communities going to get to Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you live in treasure cove or Port New Providence, dog eat ya lunch!! So turn around and stay your backsides home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course in safety and security!!

And don’t let me be the owner of the Prince Charles or Yamacraw gated Communities!!! If I can’t get access to yours property you sure is hell won't be passing through mine!!

My point is that it is evident to me that construction of these communities cannot indiscriminately continue. And I feel that now is the accepted time to put an end to such communities. An increase in gated communities has also contributed to the rise in the cost of land and thus further burdening the working class!

This island is just too small for this. Everywhere the working class is being squeezed.

Just ask the poor residents of Bozine Town! Their land was quiet titled from them without their knowledge by a wealthy special interest group.

For what reason????? You guessed it!!!! Bozine town offers a high scenic view of Nassau and the lake. Landco thinks it is perfect for yet another gated
Community!!!!!!!!!

Actually Collins wall should be looked at exactly as The Berlin Wall and Confederate flag are. It is a symbol of oppression. The fact that most folk don't know where it is has less to do with its significance during its time than it has to do with apologists explaining away its existence to those that never heard the truth.

Until the truth is allowed to be spoken injustices will continue to be forgotten.

It should be taking up space in our history books.
