The closest thing to Collins Wall is Spanish Wells, and more than Mr. Collins lived behind that wall. My grammy worked behind there & she told me that after 3-4 pm all blacks (maids & gardeners) had to leave.

See you wrong again Marichal...the closet thing to Collins wall is Lyford Cay...
Spanish Wells has all kinds of people living there...You talking about old Spanish Wells, I talking bout modern Lyford Cay...After ones shift over all blacks (maids & gardeners) have to still leave!

The government respresents the Bahamian people in some aspects. Many people sue the governmental departments for injustice but that doesn't mean they sueing their own mother or father.

Err...the majority of the people who live behind the gate are foreigners. 95% of all globak wealth is white owned. Lyford cay is a typical representation of what the wealth stats state.
Collins wall was a wall meant to keep negroes out....Lyford cay has no such policy, aside from the outrageous propertuy value, that keeps economicaly challenged people out.
Just so happens that the majority of the poor are blacks.

Canewry, you seem to have a level head. Please tell me what it is/was about the wall that that upsets so many? True it was a big but one could get around it by going north or south. True, one could get shot for trying to climb it (that still happens today - a guy was shot a few years ago for trying to take fruit from a man's yard.)
Was it the that wall that was so upsetting or was it the man that lived behind the wall or the society that allowed it to be built? (Keep in mind we have big walls now that keep as from the beach. Mr. Collins wall was not near the sea.)
So, fill me in, if you would be so kind.:)

I don't give two hoots about Collins or his wall...I had an issue with how you dismissed the idea that the wall is insignificant to black Bahamians. Once in our history way after the Americans passed federal laws against blatant discrimination against people of colour, the Bahamas still had signs down town and abouts that said black people enter via the black and white people only. It was not until 1967 that things started to change, and it took years after until the midset of the minority began to change. Yet still years present...White Bahamians still entreat us to just forget all the past ill treatments.

resulting in keeping the majority out...
White Americans in the 60's used to do that too...increasing their property value so much that black people could never afford it.

Perhaps...
however, he grew up differently from us. CG see things differently from the majority of Bahamians concerning this topic...
