Well, I would love to live by the sea .....
No me! I don’t care if it was 60c an acre! I have a number of friends that live by the sea. One of them, after a surge, had half the ocean in his front room! All of them complain about people walking along the beach making noise, making a mess or thinking that their right to be on the beach extends to using the pool!
But my biggest concern would be Hurricanes! What if we got a big one with 20 foot seas? No, no, no sea front property for me!!! I’ll stay where I is!!!:)

Say using their pool, they bold nah. But they do have rights to be on the beach, I don't know about using their pool doh :) I guess we have to be mindful of the homes with noise levels.

Yes, Hurricanes is a major concern, however, the view of the sea or lake is so refreshing, there is just something about it.

well they really cant do nothign bout the bnoise people make noise everywhere...tell us the story about the pool incident...I remember doing something like that when I was small..it was innocent...
...there is a reason why island people arent hyped at all about beachfront property...we know when the big one come it taking you and the house with it...:taped2:
but quietly I want the beach view...in Exuma though our house is a "bit inland"...if we stand up on the deck we can see the ocean... so pretty and sea green/turquoise blue...when the tide come in, on a bad day I know ya friends them have a fit

It seems my friends came home from Church one Sunday to find a bunch of tourist gals and a few Bahamian men in and around their pool! The barbecue grill was also piping away! Some of their lawn furniture was dragged off the property to the waters edge.
When my friends walked out of the back door to ask what was going on the men ran off leaving the girls there. “But they said this was their house!” said one of the girls - referring obviously to the guys that were by now out of sight!
My friends have since build a wall on the property to keep wanderers out of their pool and back yard. But they tell me they still find a condom or two in the pool now and again. They say that they make a careful investigation of the pool before they dive in! So would I! :)
An other friend of mine read my posting about the pool and asked me to post his story.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yes.” he said “just don’t use my name!”
It was a few weeks before Christmas. There was a full moon and as my friend looked out his picture window he saw a young couple walking hand in hand near the water’s edge. They were silhouetted against in moon’s silver path on the water. “What a lovely sight.” he thought. His attention was distracted by the ringing of his door bell. He drew the curtains and went to answer the door. He knew who it was. He had invited his Church Choir to practice in his large livingroom.
The choir began its practice. They were facing the curtained window. My friend thought it would add a nice touch if he open the curtains and turned on the flood lights. He pulled the curtain open, and flipped on the lights. Here, illuminated by his pool, and laying in one of his large pool chairs was the young couple, nude, and they were...well, you know what they were doing!!!! The choir stumbled into silence. Embarrassed, my friend quickly killed the lights and pulled the curtains fast shut!
My friend tells me that what made matters worse was that the Choir had been singing “Oh come all ye faithful!”
I am told that the Choir now looks forward to practicing at his house!
You can’t make these things up.:)

the Kids that goto the beach by me ...
chancellor 06-06-06, - 06:52 PM And you wonder why some people pushin for private beaches. Thats the same kind of case someone with beach property would use, and who can blame them? If I had such beach property with that kind of activity happening in front of my house I probably would have a fence put in myself!

Rizzo 06-07-06, - 01:56 AM I must say that I was not going to post any opinions on this topic, because I find it rather foolish. However, that same notion prompted this response.
May I ask - is there something wrong with wanting to live in a community where you feel secure, where your children can play without fear of any danger, where you can rest peacefully without much disturbance, and where you can bond with neighbors of the same interest and priorities?
My answer to this is - NO.
Now, some of you may say, "hey I feel the same way and I don't live in a gated community!" But my friends, you are the fortunate ones.
I can name many streets where children cannot play in their yards, where families have burglar bars at every window, where it's hard to get a good night's sleep without the street lullaby, where you wouldn't dare say good morning to your neighbor because it may set them off.
Throughout New Providence you will find persons who stop in the middle of the road, and dare you to blow your horn, or ask them to pull over on the side. It even happens in your neighborhoods!
Who wouldn't pay to have peace of mind? I know I would. But I find little hope left in New Providence; so I am making my pilgrimage back to the family islands, where there is a little bit of the old "island life" left. Where my kids can enjoy this country the way they are supposed to; the way kids used to.
And where you won't be persecuted for wanting to enjoy things in life that should be available to you anywhere in this country.
I think sometimes, people need to step back and look at the entire issue before attacking something positive and transforming it into something negative.
(By the way, black people do live on Village Road Cecil, and some of them are my relatives.)
