What bad has the Casino in New Providence done?

Exuma officals want to build the Islands, and I am all for them. The Casino is on one small part of the island, the rest of that huge island will survive.
Just an FYI.....The hotel has done enough damage with the infighting between locals and Nassuvians.

I thought that any Bahamian was not allowed to gamble in the Bahamas.
Or has the law changed?!

my thing is who made you the moral authority on anything? I dont gamble, because I have better things to do with my pennies...you think repeling the law is gonna save me from myself or anyone of us...you should have more respect for the average Bahamian's intellect and what kind of responsible citizens we are... :gi: who are you to tell anyone anything?take a look at this paper when you have the time... (http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=210008)

Where in my response did I claim to be "a moral authority"?

And what ivory tower you living in? What average Bahamian intellect? Last time I checked the average grade for the "future" leaders for this country was an E!

I know you are an advocate for the "empowerment and uplifting of the people" but you CANNOT fabricate stuff just to "sound good"

You trying to tell me, that after looking around this country, you can see EVIDENCE that the "average" Bahamian acts responsibly?

You call a society where people KNOW EXACTLY who broke into their neighbours house, rob the Chinaman, murdered the dude, and refuse to tell the police-one that acts responsibly

A society where it is socially acceptable for married men to sweetheart and have a bunch of outside children, who they don't take care of - one that acts responsibly?

A society where the people hire illegal immigrants for cheap labour, and then turn around and complain about "how much a dem here" - one that acts responsibly?

A society where it is ok to "tip" the Customs officer, the Road Traffic officer to duck out on paying their REQUIRED taxes, then wonder why the government saying "dey broke" - one that acts responsibly.

A society where eventhough crawfish season close, and there are size restrictions on conchs, the grouper is almost an endangered species, government and environmentalists warn of "none for future generations", people still catch and eat em for "a meal" - one that acts responsible

You mussy living somewhere else cause it can't be in this Bahamaland! You need to come outside and get in touch with the real Bahamas my dear.:hammer:

given all that youve said I still feel its not your place to tell grown people if they can gamble or what...their not children...seeing that their doing it anyway...if and when the government regulates the industry imagine how much good could come out of that...more gov't revenue brought from that regualtion and the implementation of a better tax system so you wont hear about the govt being broke or dependence on the ineffiencient tax structure as of this writing, law and order, better education, more environmental awarness and ambassadors to safeguard against some of the dangers you suggessted.

Dammit I never was tellin grown people what to do. I was ONLY voicing my SUPPORT for the current law, which prohibits Bahamians from gambling. I then expanded on why I feel it should remain in place. My opinion!
