You all see a casino opened in Exuma? Good for buisness I guess but does Exuma really need a casino to pollute its island? My goodness.

My goodness. http://www.jonesbahamas.com/?c=45&a=9072 chancellor 06-14-06, - 10:12 AM I guess it goes with what the tourists want. However, I fear that if we do this to all the islands, the Bahamas will loose its edge as it will not be able to offer its uniqueness that every island brings. Some places need to be secluded getaways, not miniatures of Las Vegas. Vegas is Vegas, an image of a powerful desert oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. This is The Bahamas 700 islands that is near, but yet so far (so they say). Dark-n-Lovely 06-14-06, - 02:28 PM Something for the tourist to do plus it made jobs available for a few people. I had the opportunity to check it out before and after completion. Was even down there when they had the job fair. Thoes who came were very excited. I am so happy its finally up and running. Discovery is the equivilant to the "booze cruises" of American Prohibition. Once that casino opens, there's no stopping some Bahamians. Mind a good number goes, but not a majority though. Say! I wonder if I should try my luck next time?!........hhmmmmm!!!...maybe not. Tafadhali 06-14-06, - 03:01 PM That's where Discovery Cruise Lines come in! Perhaps, but in a way I support it. Just look at what happening with the numbers racket. You have bahamians gambling $10 - $50 a day! Hit one number once erry 2 months, and get $500. Where is the sense in that!? When tourist come here, gamble away their life savings and end up bankrupt-we don't care! We just ship em back to dey country. But when a Bahamian gambles away, dey mortgage payment, rent money, grocery money, school fee, etc., aint no where to send him. He suffers, his family suffers, and they ALL become a burden to the state(you & me) So I agree with the current law, we need protection from ourselves! You see, gambling is an addictive "disease". And just all other diseases, prevention is better than cure!:hammer: Rory 06-14-06, - 05:11 PM Perhaps, but in a way I support it. Just look at what happening with the numbers racket. I dont gamble, because I have better things to do with my pennies...you think repeling the law is gonna save me from myself or anyone of us...you should have more respect for the average Bahamian's intellect and what kind of responsible citizens we are... :gi: who are you to tell anyone anything?take a look at this paper when you have the time...
