View Full Version : A Calamitous Compromise
Delroy 09-05-03, - 10:48 PM This is not my website.
This site belongs to Jesus Christ and will forever be.
If I censor some words for quality purposes that is might right as administrator. Looks could be deceiving o3parietal this is not a cheap website. Christ is stronger than any code you or I can program or any software this planet has.
Do you want to swear in this forum?
Is that what you want?
If so tell me.
I think you are trying to make a "storm in a tea cup" 3partietal! Delroy told you that the word "cocktail" was removed in error. What more do you want?
You said, "My freedom of speech, obviated because of some stupid people's fear of words." Come on! You seem to be a very erudite person, with some strong views, none of which have been edited. Also, there are some people who may be offended by vulgar words. That hardly makes them stupid - just people with good taste! :)
Delroy. Please expand on your statement, "This site belongs to Jesus Christ and will forever be."
Delroy 09-05-03, - 11:48 PM A few years ago I didn't even know how to send an e-mail.
I got online for the first in 2000 when my uncle living in the US opened up an e-mail account for me at Netscape so that we can correspond. At that time I had to be coached by an employee in an Internet lounge downtown on how to access my e-mail. That employee is now my best friend and a moderator on this site (OnBahamas). He is also a Christian.
The speed in which I learned the concept of the world wide web showed me that there was a deeper purpose within it and this is not just my will but that of God.
Bahamas Issues was a thought placed inside me at one of the most spiritual times in my life. Websites like this is needed more than we can think. I started this site in September 1st 2002 and the thing which have happened since then proves its purpose. Even now I can see what God is doing through this site because of the people I meet here everyday and the ones the e-mail me about the site. Every day I learn more and more through Him.
This is His website! He gave me the knowledge for the betterment of His Kingdom.
All I am here is like my title says:
A "Kingdom Worker"
Thank you for your reply. I particularly liked the statement, "Websites like this is needed more than we can think." Man, is that true! I enjoy this site and I enjoy the postings (mostly!)
I am not a Christian but I do have a deep respect for those who are the followers of that faith. I am disturbed, but not surprised, by the number of persons who have a negative view about faith in general. Many of these people have genuine reasons to complain. It would be my wish that every member of the clergy could read the postings on this site. They might learn something of value
Delroy 09-06-03, - 12:56 AM I have a deep respect for people who have love within there hearts and show it. I see that in you CG.
You don't have to be a Christian to know God.
The Bible says in 1 John chapter 4 verse 7-8: "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
I believe that Christ has a divine purpose for everyone no matter who they are but without love it is impossible to fulfill any purpose.

Funny you should mention that, I wish one day to be a part of a race of beings that thinks nothing but good of each other. Apparently, the censorship script was placed before any of us joined "just in case." If that was/is the case, a more trusting (faith) mode would've been: no censorship script until a disregard for communial standard was shown. And each act of discipline (application of the censorship script) would've been in conjunction with each individual transgressor. Hmmm...sounds familiar? In case it doesn't...I got it from "Jesus Christ."
This site's modus operandi doesn't appear to match the proposed owner's.
Here, apparently everybody's lumped as a transgressor already, whether they swear or not, and just to save the time and effort obviation is applied to everyone. And you're right. Looks can be decieving, depending on which eyes you're looking with.
And CG, by the way... the root of the "F" word is "fokken" which means, 'to strike.' There exists a military aircraft called the "Fokker." All the pilots that have flown one, the people who named it, and anyone who has said the word "fokker" must inevitably have...bad taste?
Come now...tastes differ. Reconsider.
Take Care and Stay Safe.
pevans 09-08-03, - 08:13 PM I thank God that this insidious Christian Council of ours was not listened to this time. An unelected group of power hungry zealots should not have any more say than the rest of us. We are supposed to be a democracy where the lawmakers are elected. Sure Christian council: have your say like the rest of us but dont ever think u getting too biggetty and above yourselves. There is a place for you but it is not in dictating the legislative process or who arrives or doesnt on our shores. In other countries these actions have met with repulsion from the rest of the world A.K.A the Taliban!
Stay in your pulpits and preach to the people who want to put up with your dancing, whirling dervish, snake oil show pronouncements and let even tempered citizens of this country engage in meaningful dialogue without the hype and mass hysteria you seek to create.
The Christian Council in our beautiful Bahamaland is an abomination and totally full of its own self importance.
o3parietal you wrote "And CG, by the way... the root of the "F" word is "fokken" which means, 'to strike.' There exists a military aircraft called the "Fokker." All the pilots that have flown one, the people who named it, and anyone who has said the word "fokker" must inevitably have...bad taste?"
Wow! Thats a stretch! That would be as absurd as saying that the people who make and fly Leer Jets spend their time staring! The Fokker Aircraft and the other word you are thinking about may share the same root but they have different meanings - if you can't see that........! (It is also pronounced differently.)
"Come now....tastes differ." Yes they do! They fall into a number of catagorize but all of them fall under two headings, good taste and bad taste. The fact remains that people of quality, people of good taste don't make a habit of swearing. However, even the best of us do at times let a "word" slip - slamming your finger in a car door is a good example, but when "those" words are use five or six times in a sentence, one can be safe in saying, "Here is a person of questionable taste!"
