You gat issues woman. Jer 06-26-06, - 05:04 PM wonder when ministry of education will get around to building a house for the afro-sporting mr. blair! (i love a good afro ... enough with all of the hair-processing chemicals already. and may that jheri curl live on madea's head forever, can i hear an amen.) enough of the hullaballoo giving all of our gold athletes a million-dollar-property ... let's start celebrating the students! and the educators! and the parents and aunties, uncles who make this all work. Exactly. Like I said earlier, there are many Bahamians who went to Ivey league schools with many distinctions behind their name. Taf you mussy live in a dark hole somewhere. Why should this one get all the praise? Bahamasinmyheart 06-26-06, - 05:14 PM :sparky: Crabs in a barrel. :realmad: adidasboi987 06-26-06, - 08:24 PM Exactly. Why should this one get all the praise? Very Very true.......while we all are very proud of his accomplishments for someone so young......he isnt the first nor will he be the last to accomplish this Tafadhali 06-26-06, - 09:00 PM Exactly. Why should this one get all the praise? I know there are many Bahamians doing phenominal things...and for christ sake its ivy league schools...:sparky: and this is a young man...using his mind and making something of himself...that's a beautiful thing...he isnt running drugs or stealing or in and out of jail or killing anyone as most folks wrongly stereotype and downgrade the young Bahamian black male...all Im saying is be proud and suppor this young man achievements...that's respect...this a lesson to many other young Bahamians out there that if you use your mind and focus on your education it will open up a world of opportunity to you and that in turn will set you free... I mussy pulled a nerve as you correcting a petty spelling error. I get your point but still you actin like its some new thing thats never happened before. Many bahamian males achieve greatness, you just dont know about it I guess. In fact, you seem shocked that such a thing has happened. You mentioned most ppl steretype black bahamian males; seems like your entire world is coloured through this racial bent. It must be rough living with your worldview. islandgyal 06-27-06, - 12:13 AM :hammer: i do have to agree with jer ... we have many out islanders, male and female, leaving their imprint on the world through scholarly pursuits. jes cuz nassau may ignore us and pay us no mind, don't mean that we don't excel in spite of y'all ignorance. Please Respect that, if you cant do anything else. CG 06-27-06, - 08:44 AM Congratulations to Peter Blair! He is one of many young Bahamians who have distinguished themselves we just don't always hear about them - it seem like only the bad guys get the press. There is nothing but good in that. de redhead 06-27-06, - 10:43 AM I mussy pulled a nerve as you correcting a petty spelling error. The best response would have been to say something positive or nothing at all. Her ravings harmed noone, there was no need to rain on her parade. And by the way never minimize the accomplishments of another, no matter how big or small. We should celebrate each others' accomplishments. licks2 06-27-06, - 11:28 AM People like Peter Blair should be celebrated, have streets named after them, and should be touring the country telling young people coming up how he did it and how they can reach their full potential also. Why do we only celebrate on a national level, politicians, athletes and preachers? Will he be honoured by The Queen? Has any outstanding student been honoured? I hope that Peter Blair will be in Parliament someday.I am sure he can help turn this country around. I hope he don't waste that gift in Bahamian politics! And they een ger give him nothing for making us proud...he too smart...they need jocks or pulpit pounding "goof-offs" to honor...I hope he never comes back here to be ruined by these political baffons! HATS OFF....GO SON...TAKE THE WORLD! :cutie: Jer 06-27-06, - 11:48 AM You know the way Tafadhali will latch onto a topic and go over the top in pushing it. We should celebrate each others' accomplishments but dont make it sound like this guy is the first to do anything great. de redhead 06-27-06, - 12:05 PM I bet you would never say that to Taf - I wonder why. We should celebrate each others' accomplishments but dont make it sound like this guy is the first to do anything great. I don't recall saying anything bad about Taf or anything that I would be afraid to say to her. All I am trying to point out to you is that celebrating this one young Bahamian's accomplishments in no way diminishes anyone else's. I may not agree with naming streets after him (I didn't agree with the renaming of Harold Road either) but trying to drag the young man down is counterproductive. |
