View Full Version : how refreshing...
I don't recall saying anything bad about Taf or anything that I would be afraid to say to her. All I am trying to point out to you is that celebrating this one young Bahamian's accomplishments in no way diminishes anyone else's. I may not agree with naming streets after him (I didn't agree with the renaming of Harold Road either) but trying to drag the young man down is counterproductive.
No one is trying to drag the man down.
Tafadhali 06-27-06, - 01:17 PM You know the way Tafadhali will latch onto a topic and go over the top in pushing it. That is her way and there is nothing wrong with it. The best response would have been to say something positive or nothing at all. Her ravings harmed noone, there was no need to rain on her parade. And by the way never minimize the accomplishments of another, no matter how big or small. We should celebrate each others' accomplishments.
its not raining on my parade... its Mr. Blair's...all im saying is respect this young Bahamian...we should all be proud he's one of us...and he will go on to do phenominally well and I wish him the best. Some people just dont like to see other's excel...sad but true...
garnelleo 06-29-06, - 02:49 PM I know Duke is a top private university; however it is not an Ivy League university.

Gal catch yoself. I was pointing out the facts. I wasnt saying I wish he didnt excel.

I think Duke is considered a southern Ivy...its very prestigious and has the endowment to prove it...John Hope Franklin was there for a minute...the man is living history...went to see him last fall at Miami Book Fair......Mr. Blair will be at is at Harvard come Fall...;) we must continue to wish him well...

usually if you go to this calibre school and how "tight on paper" Mr. Blair is he more than likely got a free ride to grad school...and you shouldnt have that attitude of "who paying for it" either...we need to be investing in young Bahamians...who will eventually one day turn around and invest in our country and inturn ourselves.
Alien 06-29-06, - 09:13 PM That whole Blair family is smart as heck. I went to school with a few of them....I do not know what their mother feeds em, but they have brains poppng out of their tail ends.
:hammer:

Yea Rory....I wish I had found my academics alot earlier in life, then I would not have to be forced to pay through the nose for education. Some kids are just good...especcially when they find their niche. That family has a history of brainiacs. I know for a fact.

Duke is ranked 5th in the US and has been ranked as high as third. I got a package from them upon completion of my BA. I turned it down, as I wanted to go to another school...well, another part of the US to do another MA programme. Plus, they were not giving me any money.
:hammer:
I decided, if I was going to pay the whole way...it better be what I want, where I want.
