Union President Kingsley Black is warning the Government that there will be a massive strike by public school teachers if they are not paid the promised salary increases by the 5th of next month. The Bahamas Union of Teachers president said that “the grace period is over for the government” who were suppose to give a salary increase to the public school teachers from July 1st, 2003. Kingsley Black said that the government hasn't said anything at all in the negotiations.

The questions are:

What impact would a strike have on our school system at a time like this?
Do you think that it is fair for teachers to go on strike at this time?
What do you think the should do to correct this situation?
