NIA will be turned into SLOP and Im not impressed naturally...why do we keep honouring this evil and dirty man I do not know...he was our version of greatest dictators in the world's history... this man Drug King Ping was the Bahamian hope stealer, dream killer #1corrupter, #1crookster and victimizer #1whether some of us want to be honest with ourselves or not...let's stop telling lies about how great he was...everything he did great was washed away because of his own ego arrogance selfishness and greed. When will we get our $500K back is all I want to know?

Ive said my peace and that is all!:bahamas:

so tru...........he and his government past/present have succesfully rewrote history...his ability to appeal to the masses blinded them to his evil...most bahamians dont know the real SLOP.....renaming this airport MAY/MAY NOT cause some negative repercussions.......but..seems like thats how we learn...like momma say "go out there and buck ya toe"......we'll see how it all plays out

So tru, pre-1983 Pindling was a National hero- after that he sunk to depths so low that ocean scum was wondering what he was doing down there!

Just like you say taffy, most people didn't really know him, but my family know first hand how evil, manipulating and victimizing he was. He got blinded with power and stepped on many a poor people!

Father of the nation my backside! I demand a DNA test to prove it!

And Perry, I cry shame for this political move. That airport is in shambles. You ga rename an airport BEFORE the renovations are completed, and talk bout what a "state of the art" facility it WILL be, and how it WILL be the envy of the region? Then why the hell you didn't wait till it was finished!:hammer:

Sensible people don't name buildings before they are completed! Thats like naming a ship before its built, or naming a child before its born!

Who you trying to please? Lady P. Well we the THINKING BAHAMIANS are not impressed and we see straight through this political tactic Mr. PM!:hammer:

read 'syndicate abroad' by hank messina. the grand bahama port authority was put together by sir stafford, in tandem with u.s. tax fugitive wallace groves. casinos and the mafia element thrown out of cuba were brought into nassau and freeport by sir stafford. you want to justly complain about the land giveaway currently underway, consider the history of such land grabs.

sir lynden didn't do anything under the radar that he didn't learn from the bay street boys, is all that i am saying. leaders are rarely perfect, so if you're going to tar and feather one national hero, might as well bring everyone in for a washing. without sir stafford, there would be no more modern-day tourism. without sir lynden, there would have been no expansion of the black middle class. take the good with the bad.

Don't forget that it was Myer Lansky that supervised the construction of their casino at a time when casino gambling was still illegal in The Bahamas. I guess if you got a Government in your pocket you can do anything.

I wonder if anyone would be willing to write a tell all book about Sir Lynden, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thayt would be something!

It would be something, yes, but I doubt that would happen though. Politics polarizes us so much I dont ever see that happening, because staunch PLPs would never put a word in ink about Sir Lynden that is negative even if it is true, and if a book is written with the "bad and ugly" as you say, it would be written off by some as being the work of a UBP sympathiser or of an FNM.

But you know, the media and historians are famous for protecting historical figures they choose to protect, or re-writing history as some would call it. That didnt start nor would it end with Sir Lynden.

The truth is that Sir Lynden's contributions to the Bahamas are indeed invalauble..but there is also the other side to the man and his administration that is fact, and is part of our history too.

The USA gov't wrote federal investigations about how pindling was hooked up with the filth of human society, primarily drug dealers. How else could someone making a 35 thousand $ salary end up buying a million $ home?

The only interesting thing I haven't heard backed up is how Pindling met his wife via her being a New Orleans street corner hooker while he was on a political trip.
