Oh please ZNS fix the audio on your news broadcasts! There is unbearable buzzing when any writing appears with a news segment; the advertisements are twice as loud as the news broadcast; there are too many highs and lows in volume all throughout the news service. I am sick and tired of having to sit and watch the news with the remote control ready in case the volume skyrockets to unbearable decibels. I really want to support our local news efforts but this news tests the limits of my patience. Enough of your amateurish rubbish and update your equipment to present an evenly sounding broadcast each night.

My wife and I were discussing the same thing tonight. Perhaps it is because this third world country with third world technology and professionalism is the answer. This is not meant to be a hit against the Bahamas, I love it here. It is just the way it is.

Just like Cable Bahamas, or the fact that the Guardian can't have a decent web page. Ever notice that on sunday and monday it is empty?? Anyone ever get a response from the on-line editor? Not Me !!!

When I listen to ZNS radio or watch ZNS TV I get the impression that it is being run by people who see it as a hobby rather than an important job.

State owned television just simply sucks. I want privitization! Did those people who work in the back during the news cast even get a degree in broadcasting? They seem extremely unprofessional. And its not just the news, I hate the programming on the whole (except bahamas @ sunrise)! If I wanted radio I would turn on the radio to 810am. I'm sick and tired of seeing the death announcements and funeral notices on tv. leave all the community stuff for newspapers. I miss when channel 13 freeport had its own local programming and only tuned into nassau for the national news(which is really the local news in nassau and has almost nothing to do about anywhere else). I pray and wait for a new private television network that would take me away from this chronic bordom and show these people what television broadcasting is really about! I thought cable 12 was gonna do something but it turns out to be somewhat of a joke. Anyway, at least I don't have to listen to state radio. I got cool96, mix102.1 and 100jamz. ZNS just turns out to be a national embarrassment just like all the other state owned corperations, like Bahamasair and BEC.

1) Make people laugh
2) Give people self esteem by being worse than they are.

ZNS must have shares in Cable or be selling DSS Service, because if they were to be worth watching then they may lose ' a little ' money :cheers:

Darrold Miller had the Minister of State for finance on his program recently. I caught a little snippet of the program. James Smith said that speaking for the government, that they intend to replace the current tax collection regime with a value added tax system. What is amazing is that they came to this conclusion without a real national dialogue (was a commission even appointed?). James Smith even admitted that the vat was not the best or fairest form of taxation; why the scam Mr Smith? Did anyone hear how the government came to the conclusions that it has. the Prime Minister has stated previously that we should approach national issues from first principles and with scholarship. I know that Darrold Miller supports income tax based on him saying so himself. He allowed hiself to get punked on the issue however with his powder puff approach to the Minister. I know Bahamians don't care, but let us not go out like John Kerry did. Let us stand up and let us not take any tax regime off the table. I am certain that when the facts are known by the Bahamian people we will reject vat and its proponents and embrace the income tax.

Some in the current cabinet and the former cabinet in additon to a lot of MP's, their families and friends, have millions that they want to protect. Decisions about our tax regime should not be based on the persoanl interests of those in power. This also should not be a political decision. Experts at the ministry of finace should crunch the numbers and present various proposals. The politicins should not be involved until we need them to be, ie when it is time to amend or make relevant laws to make reality that which is in the best interest of the country. I agree with Vince Ferguson and other Bahamians of good will and common sense. Time to take off the training wheels. That frightens a lot of people in power and those who lust after power but we are growing up and we will not be denied!
