View Full Version : Sol Kerzner wants the Nassau International Airport Upgraded.
Great Demos 12-17-05, - 07:50 AM Let us crown Sol Kerzner Emperor Of The Bahama Islands! He is our representative. When he speaks The Govenment obeys his wishes lest fire and brimstone fall upon them! He gives us bread!
Yeah man, I vote for him to be PM!:what:
Then we could get him to build a bridge from Nassau to Miami!!!:D:D
Talk about getting rid of the congestion 'roun here!? What a relief that would be! Half these ppl 'roun here would be in Miami all the time:escape:escape: :bye:
ooops! But the merchants here might not like it!
But, Hey, it would be good for Uncle Sam to get some revenue for Miami!

Thats the main reason for the Baha Ma deal right now, put people with no vision won't see that.
chancellor 12-17-05, - 01:06 PM The point is that the government will only listen to multi-billion foreign investors now (multi-million foreign investers were so ten minutes ago) whether is Mr. Kerzner, the BahaMar guy (because I can't recall the spelling of the name he has) or both, or even Ginn. Eveything done here is for the tourist first and Bahamians last. Seeing that he has the same opinions at least about infrustructure as the majority, he might as well be our representative. Would the government be scrambling to get an agreement with the a management firm for NIA if Mr.Kerzner didn't say what he said. You think they are doing this for US!? Now that's a good joke!:D :shaky: :)

No they are not, but we get what we elect. Also my point was that with the Bahma deal govt willn't be held hostage by one person as in the past. Now whomever is in charge must be smart enough to strike a delicate balance.

We get what we elect, aye? Stay right there!
Yeah right! We'll get the same ole same ole with the present system of governance, no matter what or whom we elect!
My prayer is that one day, people of the younger generation would GRAB this system of governance by the scruff of its neck, extirpate it and kick it out somewhere to the ends of the Atlantic Ocean:rip: and replace it with something more suitable for this country.:bahamas: And I believe it will happen soon!

I believe it will happen too! But soon? I am not so sure of that. Things will change. As the old saying goes, "the only constant is change."

An unfortunate set of initials for an airport! :what:
chancellor 03-17-06, - 02:58 PM I really think they should change it the domain to Bh...or bm....bi?(bahama islands). I haven't heard ppl laugh at it but I have laughed! This is the main reason why hardly anyone uses batelnet for email.
I pray it wont be SLOP....but then again this is your nassau...I have nothing to do with this place(except school). I only concerned with the internet domain.

No buddy, it has everything to do with you, with me, and every other Bahamian on this board. This is our country. Get rid of that 'separatist' attitude. This is Bahamas Issues. Nassau International Airport despite the title is a national disgrace in the eyes of visitors, for the entire country.
Teniel 03-17-06, - 09:46 PM Whenever they get around to renovating the airport, they could get rid of some of those Customs Officers. They spend the majority of their time talking, instead of getting travellers through the line. They have you standing there like an idiot, while they do nothing, and if you dare apporach the counter, they want to try and embarrass you. I saw them do it to tourist on my trip home. The poor tourist were so confused as to what was going on, that they had to ask me where to stand, and I promptly sent them on another line hoping they would get served quickly. Pure slackness some of those Customs Officers, particularly the women, yeah I said it. How in the world we get to be such a top notch tourist destination with our stinking attitudes is beyond me. I mean ya get it the minute ya hit the airport.

what about "bhs"
gian_18778 03-18-06, - 11:37 AM Paying for it should have been little problem. there is something like a $10 fee for leaving the airport? $10 x 4 million visitors a year.. $40 million dollars for the past 10 years at least... that is a VERY nice airport. The problem of course is that most of the people that collected those fees put the money directly in their pockets!
Bingo!!!
The problem is not the airport, but the people who work there, and the MANAGEMENT!
If the airport was properly managed, and executed, we would not be having this conversation.
