1) Abolish Local Government
2) Leave it as it is
3) Needs major improvements, then it will work great
My personal view is that local gov. needs improvements, because now anyone can victimize against another with no above authority to stop it, if the government had to appoint some reps on their to ensure that there is fair play for all.

I do think that local government is good. As we look in the past we vote for our MP's and yet all business are held in Nassau we need local government so things can be done, and when you talk about victimizing lets look at the PLP government they are known for victimizing and with local government we can have a fair government when is comes to local government. So i would say i think we should vote for 2 leave it as it is

Should we abolish local government?
Certainly NOT!!!!!!!!
I feel strongly that local government must be developed in this day and age in our nation. It must be free from central government's contionuous and anoying intervention. only that the laws passed in local government does not go against the constitution especially civil rights. Currently local government must do everything only if the corresponding ministry allows. eg. If North Eleuthera wants to make road improvements they cant just make plans and aprove them of their own town planning, they must first consult the ministry of works and only on his advise(if he ever gets to it) will the project be done. Further more I hate this cookie cutter system in which local governments can only opperate on funds from central government. Some of the services local governments provide has to be halted because they continue to wait for the money that was allocated for them. I really want to see this system changed. I think this kind of law should incorperated into the constitution; that every district (or county whatever you want to call it) has a right to their own government and their own constitution providing that it does not go against the national constitution. And that every municipality has the right to their own government and their own constitution providing that it does not go against the national constitution. That their government can levy taxes upon their citezens, and a couple of other things that would become a system of rights and limitations for districts and municipalities.

in abaco, someone bidded for a contract for garbage collecting, but since all members of the board were of one political persuasion, they didn't give it to the lowest bidder which was a person supporting the opposite party from them, but gave it to a person who bidded much higher, costing all of us more money.
