View Full Version : The Bahamas is the 5th HAPPIEST COUNTRY ON EARTH!
Tafadhali 08-09-06, - 01:21 AM I happen to agree. Both major parties disagree.
well if one believes in social programs why arent we seeing them come to fruition and if the other one is in to making people wealthy then wouldnt it be a great idea to have something in tact to encourage the monied of us to give back (in form of a gift tax or something like how the americans do tax-deductable programs...)
lock75 08-09-06, - 04:26 AM but you come of so grateful and complacent...as the for instance your toting water to well comment...and now this...our country has the highest GDP per capita income behind the us and canada (of independent countries in the western hemisphere) I dont understand it...why are people IN NASSAU living like that...why are our babies dying...when all of our MP's have chauffer driven vehicles and sissy's MP's have their socials catered and billed to the govt and the PM's wife can take her entourage on a boat show to India...with all this develpment and all this "relative wealth" and prosperity and "transformation"...and with our relatively small population (sans the illegal immigrants)...why?
Yes grateful I am but complacent I'm not. Just because I don't spew venom with every breath doesn't mean I don't care about the Bahamas. I'm an optimist who believe that instead of always focussing on what's wrong with the country, we should look at what's right and try to capitalise on them.
We have achieved universal education for our people, something that has alluded many countries. Now that we have accomplished that, let's reform education, to make it one of the best systems in the world.
We have achieved a level of healthcare for our people, let's now make it better.
You mention the social inequities, I agree with you and share your frustration. However, all is not wrong. Capitalism has brought social inequality, but we have an opportunity to build a model society and programmes such as Urban Renewal etc will help bring about this end.
springman 08-20-06, - 07:45 PM Actually if you go to the page Denmark and Switzerland tied for first, followed by Austria and Iceland who tied for third, then The Bahamas Finland and Sweden who all tied for fifth. So Europe is well represented taking five of the top seven spots. And some people consider Iceland to be a part of Europe also even though it is stuck out there on it's own similar to Bermuda and the Caribbean.
You all do realize that the legal dope smoking nations are in first place rite?

watsayu 08-20-06, - 11:00 PM Despite all our shortcomings, The Bahamas was determined to be one of the best places on earth to live. No wonder foreign investors, second homeowners and migrants are flocking to our shores...lol

You know before we get all excited about this we have to question what the word HAPPIEST mean. Well, from what I hear after meeting with some politicans in the government it was decided that we are really a happy = gay nation. SO I am not sure that is something to celebrate.
But as a people are gaith in GOd keeps us alive and give us hope.

In Fox Hill prison. Besides we're not consumers or producers when it comes to dope, just transshippers. Our happiness comes from a good lifestyle, strong faith and generally positive attitude and outlook.
