Allyson Maynard-Gibson last night answered claims that her former law practice will be handed a $1 million bonus from the LNG company earmarked to build the Ocean Cay terminal.

The Attorney General issued a short statement to counter charges made from the Free National Movement (FNM) in a "Commentary" document which appears on the FNM's web site.

In a commentary headlined, PLP Government: A House Divided, the Opposition claimed, "The Attorney General's former law firm reportedly stands to receive the balance of a very substantial legal fee – one million dollars! – when the heads of agreement is successfully concluded and signed.

"To date, $603,000.00 of the agreed fee has been paid, so Ms Gibson's former firm is looking forward to receiving the balance of $397,000 ! No wonder she was so anxious to beat out the Minister responsible for LNG, Leslie Miller in making the announcement."

Asked if her former firm had been offered the bonus, Mrs Maynard-Gibson told The Guardian: "I have no interest in Gibson and Company. You would have to direct that question to the partners of Gibson and Company." (http://www.thenassauguardian.com/national_local/286750304614114.php)

her name is still on the company...pray tell? when she was the bahamar attorney oh I just know she was still affiliated witht he company....this sickness.
What makes no sense to me is

1why would she make the announcement if she had nothing to gain and if she was only concerned about the swift justice over at the AG's office...where does she have the time...it sounds like a lie to me...

2 is perry's cabinet that out of control that they do what they want and can get away with it...have we heard a pin drop from him yet on this matter yet...or was allyson the bait to see if the "DIE LNG DIE" campaign was still in effect...DIE LNG DIE!

3. is her assets and interest in it in a blind trust- that way even if she was still a partner...we wouldnt know anyway.

4. who does she think she's fooling? this lady is a big joke...a really big joke.

Maynard Gibson is absolutely blood thirsty.
My goodness....

If it made the Guardian "our top print"...there has to be some reality behind the scandal.
The scandal being, she is possibly a under handed under world type figure.

This is not good. She may have caused the PLP an election.

dont put this all on her...the PLP caused themselves the election...and from what I can see there is certainly more blows to come to any chance of them winning...

the sad thing is people will take her word as gospel...show me the proof you arent an owner allison...show me that you have no interest or dealing with your company....shoow me your phone records that their were no calls made to virginia....show me your bank statements...because you can tell me anything....that sounds like a lie.

I agree with your assesment y2k, regarding Allyson's greed that is. This is not the only Heads of Agreement her law firm has represented. That is a blatant conflict of interest.

The only reason Allyson is not PRACTICING law at her firm is cuz she is a Cabinet Minister and that should be her only full time job. But the firm is hers. The profits are hers and her partners.

Her law firm seizes upon every viable Heads of Agreement negotiation the PLP has held. And now she wants to insult Bahamians with that statement she made? Come on man!

The scandal is horrible.
I mean, a law firm had to get the job. But, did it have to be her law firm?

Sheer greed....unashamed greed.

She used to be "ok" by me....but as of late!?!

for anchor developments I think just paltry bed making jobs...and hopes that it will spur growth on islands
for investment projects like lng fees...which we really give ourselves a raw deal...we only get fees no percentages.

Good question. If we do not see it in our taxes, then we should see it some form or the other. NOT on Maynard Gibson's law-firm accounting tables.
