God, I hate these kind of threads but here I go again. The black on black issue was perpetuated by the man. During slavery, the man used one brother to keep tabs on the other brother; hence the saying, " I don't trust that brother". Brothers never learned to get together and that has been handed down throughout slavery to this present time and until the end of the world.
Many say that slavery and the bad period of racism are long gone but the effects of it are permanently blended into the fiber of our being. Black promiscuity coupled with our lack of understanding related to the interpersonal relationship is just one example of the permanent damage done to our people because of the man, his slavery and racist devices. A black man wasn't in a position to protect his family thus we still have issues because we have very few or no models to follow. White people don't have these problems
Okay, I hear you all screaming propaganda, but I say propaganda my @$$! Consider this; you oxtail tail and boil dumpling lovers; oxtail, cow foot and other items like chicken foot that we love in our soup, was considered the fifth quarter. In other words, these were the parts of the animal that "massa" rejected for his own family because it was considered nasty and garbage. Come on, oxtail is the tail of a cows @$$. Over time, black people got accustomed to eating the fifth quarter and as time went on and new generations of blacks were born into the world, the origin of our food was forgotten as we became accustomed to it as a part of our CULTURE.
Why do black people suffer from diseases related to the crap we eat Massa planned it from the beginning We got the worst of everything and now we are stuck on it cause it taste good and is a part of our culture
See, all this black on black crap which we now accept as part of our culture was a part of the man's master plan to forever keep us divided and it worked.
The psychological effects of slavery are permanent and anybody that says it is not, please continue eating your oxtails and the other fifth quarters and enjoy.
Thanks for this thread Haitianboy. I don't know whom you quoted but here is my response. I shall place his/her words in quotations and italics
"The black on black issue was perpetuated by the man." Might have been at first, but it is you who are doing it now! "During slavery, the man used one brother to keep tabs on the other brother; hence the saying, " I don't trust that brother". Brothers never learned to get together and that has been handed down throughout slavery to this present time and until the end of the world." What you say maybe true but "until the end of the world?" Only if you wish it so! And as for never learning? Learn now!
"Many say that slavery and the bad period of racism are long gone." True about your slavery, but it does continue for others in the world today, particularly for women. Racism, on the other hand is still with us. "but the effects of it are permanently blended into the fiber of our being." Only because you keep bringing it up. It seems that the black man insists that he sees himself as a victim. If you see yourself as a victim you will be treated like one. "Black promiscuity coupled with our lack of understanding related to the interpersonal relationship is just one example of the permanent damage done to our people because of the man, his slavery and racist devices." Oh! For goodness sake! Are you not the master of your own fate now? Stop using the rattling of Ghostly chains to excuse poor behavior. "A black man wasn't in a position to protect his family thus we still have issues because we have very few or no models to follow." True and false. Are there no moral black men in the world today? Of course there are. "White people don't have these problems." Don't be so sure!
"Okay, I hear you all screaming propaganda, but I say propaganda my @$$! Over time, black people got accustomed to eating the fifth quarter and as time went on and new generations of blacks were born into the world, the origin of our food was forgotten as we became accustomed to it as a part of our CULTURE." Now you are blaming food? If there are any English people reading this they will tell you that Oxtail, Jelly Calves foot, Beef Heart, tripe (sheep stomach) are and always have been a favorite food of the British. My mother (English) cooked them often. Chicken feet on the other hand - no, but we did do Chicken livers!
"Why do black people suffer from diseases related to the crap we eat Massa planned it from the beginning." I doubt that! Most people of the time did not know the food value of what was eaten. "We got the worst of everything and now we are stuck on it cause it taste good and is a part of our culture." You are stuck with it because you like it and as I said, much of it is good. But if your doctor said to change your diet due to some health problem, you probably would. If you think chicken feet are holding you down - give them up!
"See, all this black on black crap which we now accept as part of our culture was a part of the man's master plan to forever keep us divided and it worked." You give the "man" too much credit! I hate to tell you this but most white folk did not care then and they sure don't now. White folks have moved on to other things. It is you the black folk who have kept this myth going.
"The psychological effects of slavery are permanent." Only if you want them to be! "and anybody that says it is not, please continue eating your oxtails and the other fifth quarters and enjoy." I will! In fact I had Ox-tail soup, with dumplings, for dinner tonight.
I can see, Haitianboy, why you feel so negative about the future of the Black man in the world, if this is the view of the majority of Blacks.
I would say to the writer of the piece you shared with us, are there no positives to dwell on? Are there no black men who have moved on? Is there any hope for those of you firmly stuck in the 1800's? What would you do to fix the problem, writer? Give us some advice and hope!
Haitianboy 09-21-03, - 10:30 PM CG - I posted the last paragraph to the writer in hopes he replies to it tomorrow...I will have to read this again and break it down because it seems you discredited alot of good points he made...I do agree with you in some points but some I cant say I do on all...I agree with him 90 percent of the things said and really dont think some of it you will be able to really understand as we can...and we speak in general...you maybe able to point out some blacks who are different from the way we speak in these views but you have to understand we lose 10 for everyone 1 that makes it, so we are generalizing
I will comment on this later
I will look forward to your reply. But let me say right now, if you are losing ten for every one that makes it, that is not acceptable! I am sure that grieves you greatly, as it should us all.
And what is that "1" doing to fix the problems?
Haitianboy 09-22-03, - 01:17 AM I will look forward to your reply. But let me say right now, if you are losing ten for every one that makes it, that is not acceptable! I am sure that grieves you greatly, as it should us all.
And what is that "1" doing to fix the problems?
CG I like you you know why? you challenge me...you do not accept people to throw up their hands and say c'est la vie...you encourage struggle as long as you get where you have to go...I like your attitude because it's mine exactly...I am used to being the motivator, but you have definitely showed me an extra level I have yet to reach...
the '1' is going to stop making excuses and do all in his power to make a change or to start a change...promise
Your kind words have warmed my heart.
I am working on a longer reply but today is a busy day for me.
Will add more tonight - if all goes well. But I will say now, you are the hope I was talking about!
People made this mess - People will have to put it right - people on both sides of the issue.
100%Bahamian 01-25-04, - 11:02 PM Why don't you two nuckleheads send each other private messages instead of wasting space making threads on our precious website! Haitianboy, you realy have to stop all this "the man is trying to keep us down" bull. You sound like an underachieving black militant! I am a black Bahamian unlike you two. I know the Bahamas isn't made up of just black people. We all work together to achieve a better life together. For all the racist whites that live here in the Bahamas, they've missed out on alot by having such a norrow mind to society. And the same goes to blacks in this country. What we don't need here is this racist "the man is keeping me down" bull. How can haitianboy live in the country (U.S.) where "the man" is in charge and still have these narrow minded views. The same country that gives him a better oppertunity than his native haiti. The same country that he wouldn't leave to go back to haiti for. And CG if you are not a haitian you are obviously a jamaican. Keep this filthy racist crap out of the Bahamas and out of our website. Get a real life! Open your eyes! Live a little! Put down this memory of oppression and use this precious time to make better of yourselves! Use this energy you have Haitianboy and try to do something possitive for Haiti. That is exactly whats wrong with your country now. Your people are too divided fighting each other for insignificant goals instead of fighting for the big picture! A better way of life. You have to realize that a better way of life is found firstly within yourselves and then your environment. Not simply thinking about running from your homes and hoping your love ones make it out also. You fools live in the Bahamas and the United States and still havn't caught any sense yet!

Wow! 100% Bahamian! Why is it that when you disagree with someone you call them a Haitian or Jamaican? Are those insulting terms to you?
I am sure Haitianboy can defend himself against your remarks, but for my part your attack on me was not really an attack! You simple restated, crudely, what I have already said on this thread and others. Then you called me a Jamaican!!!! LOL
As for this thread being a waste of time. How better to use time that to try to understand each other?
islandgyal 01-28-04, - 11:40 PM for all of those narrow-minded folk in this virtual room who insist on diminishing the black world's contribution to the rest of civilization by insisting that the black presence in the western hemisphere began in 1619 with the advent of slavery, i would suggest that you read dr. ivan van sertima's excellent dissertation, "they came before columbus."
your brainwashed views will open to realize that without the black presence in the western hemisphere, there would have been no incan pyramids ... or no city of los angeles for that matter. please educate yourselves to the active role that black man and woman has played in the engaged development of the ancient and modern world. then come back and rant about 'the man holding you down.'
again, he or she who refuses to learn his or her history is doomed to repeat it.
Islandgyal, please check out the thread "What was 13th October to you?" it is under the Bahamas Local Community Issues section. I think you will be interested as it talks about what you are saying.
Why don't you two nuckleheads send each other private messages instead of wasting space making threads on our precious website!

YorickBrown 01-30-04, - 08:49 AM 100% Bahamian,
Your declaration that this thread is wasted space shows how blind and accepting you are to the situations around us. While I agree with you that "the man" in the racial sense may not be keeping us down, I would have to argue that indeed we are being kept down - by our very own people.
There is no need for any other race to be prejudiced against us, because the torch has been passed on and accepted by us in many ways. Look at our society today, many of the things that equal success and progression are not inherently Afro-based. Look at our women, who indeed emulate women of other cultures by chemically treating, pressing and poisoning their hair. Look at our politicians and businessmen who proudly wear a suit and tie (Eurocentric attire) in our blazing sub-tropical weather. Look at how we look down on the people who work with their hands on construction sites, on farms, and on the docks. Look at how we consider those who speak with an American or English accent "educated". And we all know that in this Bahamian culture, the lighter skinned (mango-skinned) you are, the more attractive you are considered, 'cause nobody wanna bring home a "black tar baby".
I think that points like the aforementioned few are symptomatic of a larger problem which has been greatly ignored; most likely because we have all assimilated messages of inferiority to some degree and are willing to accept a piece of the pie, instead of building and developing our own unique pie. Africans have done a lot for this side of the world, but either as slave labour or sporadic blips of intellectual achievements. An overall look at the Caribbean exposes a struggling region composed primarily of the African race that is indeed fighting the larger countries for trade, export and, as of late, even civil rights.
The major problem with the African race on this side of the world is that as long as our belly is full (and perhaps those of our family as well) we consider everything to be just fine and dandy. We even hate to consider bringing up slavery. The thing is that we have to bring the topic up because we have only just begun over the past century to be able to intellectualize the psychological damage of slavery. Before that we were still being oppressed. We are actively living the results of centuries of subjugation. Let's be intellectual about this and try to figure out the strengths and weakness of the African psyche before we continue down the present road of mental slavery.

This is odd!
Rory, from reading alot of your posts I would say that you are a white guy with a European background. And you also did some traveling in your lifetime Ney York, Florida, etc. etc. Why would you disagree with my suggestion for the originator of this thread to send his messages privately to his accomplist?
They are obviously heavily ingaged in the black militant mentality that is dangerous to us all be it black or white. Their subject is far to controvercial and is also widely misleading. They make it seem like from the discovery of the new world the white men which happens to be your ancestors, had a plan to distroy the black men which happens to be my ancestors. That once again is untrue and misleading. We all know that the black race was injustly treated and widely hated but it was not a big conspiracy designed to keep us oppressed forever. Haitianboy don't even live in the Bahamas. Why is he trying to stir up such an illfaithful atmosphere here. If things get out of control here he doesn't have to deal with the problem. Right now us blacks have the upper hand here in the Bahamas. We are the majority, we control the government and besides the fact that the foreign investors are mostly of other races and provides millions of $$ to our economy we still own a majority of businessess here in the country. But it is our Bahamian nature to live together in harmony and get along. If this is working for us tell me why do we alow someone living in another country that is not natively his, spread this poison across our website? This Haitianboy character obviously have a problem with white people and still wouldn't leave America. I think that is as rediculous as his posts.
100% Bahamian, you wrote, "Why would you disagree with my suggestion for the originator of this thread to send his messages privately to his accomplice?" Presumably, I am the accomplice?
You went on to say, "They are obviously heavily engaged in the black militant mentality that is dangerous to us all be it black or white." Please read my posting carefully and you will see that I agree with you. Black Militancy is dangerous - particularly to Black people. (By the way, I am a white guy.)
You also wrote. "Their subject is far to controversial and is also widely misleading." Controversial? Perhaps but what is the point of talking about safe, uncontroversial subjects? Misleading? I don't see that. Haitianboy was simply describing his feelings. But, read my posts carefully and you will see that I agree with you. There was no plan to destroy the Black man. What there was, was a view of the Black man as a commodity, not a human being. THAT error must always be challenged.
