There is a huge backlog of persons who were born to non-Bahamian parents and have to wait until they are 18 to apply. I think one of the reasons, (if not the main reason), is the fact that it is up to the Prime MInister and the Cabinet to review each and every application for citizenship.

Now shouldnt there be some seperate board of fulltime immigration officers who review such applications on a daily basis. Why is it set up that Cabinet must give the nod on who should be granted citizenship, (I believe they only meet once a week for this, correct me if I am wrong).
