If we had it, would you be on it?
Also, do you think it would curve some of the crime?

Tafadhali 08-15-06, - 02:42 PM If we had it, would you be on it? Also, do you think it would curve some of the crime? no because it wouldnt be enough. and crime isnt cured by welfare...all that does is make people really idle...crime is cured by having a clean environment(sans drug and violence and dilapitated buildings, garbage and other filth)...crime is cured by creating better jobs...there is a book called freakonnomics...rather easy to read...youll actually like reading it (http://www.freakonomics.com/thebook.php)...it touched on the crime rate in one passage.chapter of the book... (http://www.freakonomics.com/) or was it blink! or the tipping point by macolm gladwell (http://www.gladwell.com/) and the tipping point Joe Baboon 08-15-06, - 05:16 PM If we had it, would you be on it? Also, do you think it would curve some of the crime? Welfare is where you sit around all day not working and get money right? So isn't that the same as working for a govt corporation? Jer 08-15-06, - 06:12 PM bo because it wouldnt be enough. and crime isnt cured by welfare...all that does is make people really idle...crime is cured by having a clean environment(sans drug and violence and dilapitated buildings, garbage and other filth)...crime is cured by creating better jobs...there is a book called freakonnomics...rather easy to read...youll actually like reading it (http://www.freakonomics.com/thebook.php)...it touched on the crime rate in one passage.chapter of the book... Drug and violence is crime so simply saying that crime is cured by getting rid of drug and violence doesnt make sense. Crime would probably get better if there were better jobs but frankly that is not enough. Issues like education, family upbringing, media etc etc etc Tafadhali 08-15-06, - 06:33 PM Crime is not cured by better environment. Jer 08-15-06, - 06:42 PM but wouldnt a clean environment and infrastructure development promote all of what you say...the faciliatation of learning and function, a functional family... infrastructure sure. But clean environment? Ppl will just make it dirty again unless they develop some pride. Tafadhali 08-15-06, - 06:49 PM infrastructure sure. But clean environment? YES...........And teaching kids right fom wrong by setting good examples for dem! Just becaud u be poor doon mean u need to be dirty, tief or nasty. Jer 08-15-06, - 09:08 PM nowi believe you just writing to hear yourself talk.research contradicts everything you have said. haha, what research are you referring too? PETA research or some tree hugging organization? My previous response was not bias as you typically are. A clean environment will not reduce crime, I bet that variable does not come close to other important variables. You are saying that because your a big environmentalist. In fact, I bet if you look at cities that are "clean" there are other more important variables (i.e. economy, security, education etc) that can account for a lower crime rate. Crime rates are due to multiple variables.... do some reading woman and come again! lol Teniel 08-15-06, - 09:19 PM Give a man a fish, or teach him to fish? bahmaboy 08-16-06, - 03:23 AM welfare could be beneficial for a society if it is done correctly. besides giving out handouts making the person who are on welfare attend classes to learn a skill or get a hs diploma or a aa degree or ensureing that while they are on welfare they are looking for a job that type of welfare system would be good. also only the truely unambisious sit up on welfare becuase it doesnt pay that much. in any event welfare could be a good thing becuase there are lots of persons out there who need a boost to pick them. |
