This was a young Bahamian woman with a vibrant spirit who appeared to have loved her children. She seemed to not be aware of the mountain of challenges that comes when you are trying to raise five children instead during the time that I knew her she woke up everymorning and went to work with a smile on her face.
Her children are smart and beautiful Bahamian kids. Two of her boys were on the front page of the Tribune back in 2001. On their way from school the youngest of the two fell into an uncovered cespit. His older brother, still a young boy himself, dived in risking both their lives and saved his brother. The Minsiter of Works at the time had lost a young relative who had drowned in an open cespit and after the story of Erica's kids was published he vowed to enforce regulations that would require contractors to cover cespits.
I hope these children have someone to step into their lives to take the place of their mother. This is really sad.

I knew both the victim and the accused in this case also, I was never aware of this level of strife though. It is sad.
