View Full Version : Help Save the Family
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family
A family consists of a domestic group of people (or a number of domestic groups), typically affiliated by birth or marriage, or by comparable legal relationships — including domestic partnership, adoption, surname and (in some cases) ownership (as occurred in the Roman Empire [and which still occurs in many middle eastern and some asian countries]).

Alien 09-02-06, - 04:19 PM Because non traditional families are good as well.
Well, the point has been validated by many people world over, that the reason why the world is going "mad" is because of the lack of the traditional family and the respect of it thereof.
I agree with that, and it has nothing to do with sexual or religious prefference, it has to do with the stability of that home, and the errosion of the moral and ethical code of conduct. That transcends prefered behavior, and lends its theory to a lack of respect for the code we had that was working quite fine, before it went bad.
And this thread is about a group that want to out law non-traditional families because of their religious beliefs..
I don't think it was all about that, but if it makes you sleep well at night then so be it.
You know like the taliban
What?
Rule breaking is all in the eye of the beholder, and the code they represent.
Ting-um 09-02-06, - 04:23 PM That sounds awfully discriminatory -- we can't have that. A domestic group of people does not include my pet poodle that's been a part of my life for a long time.
I hope the constitution doesn't discriminate against my family that includes my poodle!!!
Domestic is also very discriminatory -- I guess gypsies and other nomads are not considered families. Must change that too!!!

I never use icons. But in this instance, I had to. This so far, is the most honest and intelligent post on this website -- including posts by myself. I would like to believe that this is what I've been trying to say for a long time but instead I stooped to the arguing and name calling.
Close thread.
so are bachelors that live alone all devils and evil people .. ?
Basically the "Traditional Family" differs around the world, especially between different religious groups.
I think the Term used in this thread is geared towards Western Christian Families.

Are the hermits and monks who live in seclusion evil and devils?
:dgi:
I know some married men who will admit that a little peace and quiet every now and then is good for the soul!
 :shhh:
trubahamian 09-02-06, - 04:39 PM ...scratch that..
Define "Family"??
Please, can anybody describe family in a non-discriminatory way -- I would hate to leave any definitions out.
Silly man....you mean as in Father and Mother, as gender relates to both?As in fraternal and maternal? Where da Mother is the woman that bore her children, from the man that impregnated her and is called Father? When Daddy is a man and Mummy is a woman and always were? How silly and old fashioned! :footmouth

If that's what I meant then why would I ask for a definition.
I'm asking for a simple, sensible definition. If people aren't happy with the traditional definition of family -- then what be the proposed new definition. The definition that rectifies all of the shortcomings that have been claimed against traditional definitions of family.
That's not hard is it.
It is important, we usually fashion laws around the word "family" and some consistent and practical definition would be very useful. That's all I ask.
Rory:
How many bachelors call themselves a "family" or try to marry themselves??
How many bachelors call themselves a "family" or try to marry themselves??
LOL ... was just responding the the lack of traditional family thing causing all the crime ..
Ting-um 09-02-06, - 04:58 PM Oh ok..
But, I think he's referring to situations where the presence of the family would typically be a necessity. Situations where passing on morals and ethics that serve to benefit, prolong, and enhance society as a whole would typically be a necessity.
A bachelor is one who willing does not take part in this vital establishment of the social structure on a primary level. On a secondary level, he may serve the capacity of a school teacher or mentor -- but the primary level is valid and desperately needed considering what the undermining and destruction of it has led to so far.

Crime does not equal immoral behavior, or the degredation of social fibre.

Morals!?! Which ones!?! Moral have been changing every day even before the word was invented. Morals from which country and which time period?? Now if you are referancing Biblacal code well the argument is out the window.
I don't think it was all about that, but if it makes you sleep well at night then so be it.
What?
Rule breaking is all in the eye of the beholder, and the code they represent.
Should the law make the beholder less equal if they are an adult and hurting no one???
