the way you keep beating around the bush...double negatives and such....if she were black u would have said so long ago.
But who cares?? I dont.
The point i was making is..... "the same arguments that YOU are using today are the very same arguments that others have used and still in some areas use to argue that "mixed race" marriages are abominations and against the teachings of the bible"
Im sure you will try to redirect this conversation back to the "race" of your wife... because you dont have a good response to what it is i am really talking about......i could care less about your wifes race, gender, sexuality, religion, political affiliation, age nationality....none of these things are my business.....but its a two way street.

I could post all day and find examples of people using THEIR religion as tools to marginalize other people that don’t share in those beliefs. Or i could just look right here on BI. I cant believe its even necessary for me to spell it out for you as many times as I have. You believe what you want to believe. I believe what I want to believe. The LAWS HOWEVER SHOULD BE NEUTRAL!!

Bahamasinmyheart:
Where are you getting this information? You are not even quoting the Word of God, obviously because you are so afraid of it. Why because it condemns your lifestyle. So, you hide behind this argument that man is using "religious bias" against you and your freedom. Why? Because Christainity is your biggest ENEMY but you will see that it is not men you are fighting against but with God, Himself. That's what all homos do and it's not surprising that you don't follow...
Do me a favor and find a scripture in the bible which CLEARLY states that a white person can not marry a black person...
Today, why is it legal to marry a black person to a white person (male and female respectively)? Simply because it's not against the law, why? Because it's a man and a woman. Can you show me where it was ever against the law in The Bahamas? Can you show me where religious leaders rallied and marched against interracial marriage in The Bahamas? Even though you had some persons against them they never ever had a strong biblical argument. Religion never threaten a black man marrying a white woman (or black woman and white man) because they didn't have a biblical leg to stand on and either do you!!!
Your problem is simple. The reason why this thread irritates you so much, why you say you will leave it but then you still come back, in fact, you made a spin-off thread...simply because The Bahamas prefers to follow Christianity. This whole argument is about who we BELIEVE. Christainity says no to homo lifestyle so the perfect thing to do is attack it and call it prejudice, in order to win the battle. Unfortunate for gays, there is no scripture condeming blacks, or women or disable people...so how can gays compare themselves to those groups?
The Bahamas is not the United States of America, we still have prayers in schools, in fact, our deputy Prime Minister is an active CHRISTAIN, you are asking the majority of us to denounce God to suit yourself whom have decided you want nothing to do with Him. Do not expect the majority (notice I didn't say all) of the nation to give up on what they belief in order to suit you.

Winter,
How very Christian of you?
Is it not so transparent. Did that whole post fly like a righteous angel right over your head as it has appeared to do to another. I don’t believe the “word of god” says any of those things. I don’t believe the “word of god” says the things you say either. You are the one condemning my “lifestyle” and I don’t care about that either. You are a grown woman you can think – believe what you want. Christianity is not my biggest enemy and you are not a representative of all that is Christian. Please step off you high horse. Not all Christians feel the way you do. But even if they did it wouldnt be my greatest enemy. Ignorance and Prejudice in general are my greatest enemies.
In my personal life/world ignorance manifests itself all around me:
http://www.bahamasissues.com/showpost.php?p=73867&postcount=1 (http://www.bahamasissues.com/showpost.php?p=73867&postcount=1)
these are the things that I most fear. In my personal life prejudice (which is integrally tied to ignorance) also manifests around me…but as a black man the easiest thing for someone who is inclined to be ignorant and prejudiced to show bias against me …..is skin color….they usually don’t bother to dig any deeper to find other reasons to prejudge me further…..thats usually plenty enough. So no Winter….. your personal homophobia ranks very low on the scale of things that bother me.
I believe in god also…. I have religion in my own life. Unlike you I simply don’t feel its necessary OR PROPER to come on here and quote scripture and MY OWN PERSONAL believes as an attempt to justify why what I THINK should be a law that regulates everyone else. Religion and faith are supposed to be things personal to the individual and their families and their church communities. The PM of the Bahamas can be the grand pope of Christianity for all I care. But not everyone in the Bahamas is a Christian and believes in the same biblical interpretations as he does or you do. This is a democracy not a theocracy. The PM the government and our constitution must be able and is able to fairly rule all the people of all the religions.
I do not fear your interpretation of god…..and I do not believe them. I don’t need anyone else to tell me that I am a moral, ethical, hard working and giving human being. I simply don’t care what you think in this regard. I very confident all on my own. It will be interesting to see when your standing at the pearly gates who gets in and who doesn’t. One of us is particularly hateful…..and one of us fights against against hate. One of us fights against prejudice....the other does not. One of us wants to treat another human being that thinks differently than they as an unequal....the other does not.
Don’t worry…if your lucky they'll have access to BI and we can still chat.

Oh believe me you are very transparent!!!
I don’t believe the “word of god” says any of those things. I don’t believe the “word of god” says the things you say either.
To make things clear...what things are you talking about?
You are the one condemning my “lifestyle” and I don’t care about that either. You are a grown woman you can think – believe what you want.
This can develop further but just think about it....do you believe God accepts the act of homosexuality?
Christianity is not my biggest enemy
LOL...oh yes it is, if it wasn't you wouldn't be trying to disarm it.
and you are not a representative of all that is Christian. Please step off you high horse. Not all Christians feel the way you do.
Of course I don't...what made you think I did??? BTW the majority of Christains do feel the same way esp in The Bahamas...I did say the "majority" and "not all" in my post.
So no Winter….. your personal homophobia ranks very low on the scale of things that bother me.
Because, I don't believe in homosexuality you want to brand me with a hate name such as homophobia...so what are you? Do you have heterophobia?
I believe in god also…. I have religion in my own life.
So, what religion is this...you do realize that Christainity and religion are different.
Unlike you I simply don’t feel its necessary OR PROPER to come on here and quote scripture and MY OWN PERSONAL believes as an attempt to justify why what I THINK should be a law that regulates everyone else.
Of course you will disagree because the scripture is against you. However, you did find it proper to post websites which had some scriptures which may or may not approve your point.
Religion and faith are supposed to be things personal to the individual and their families and their church communities. The PM of the Bahamas can be the grand pope of Christianity for all I care.
What makes up a community? Families and people. Somehow, somewhere what they personally believe in will come together, they will find a common ground within the community and they would want those values to respresent the country they live in, which eventually rules them...
But not everyone in the Bahamas is a Christian and believes in the same biblical interpretations as he does or you do.
However, the majority does, not everyone but the majority.
This is a democracy not a theocracy.
A democracy with Christian values, a democracy which stands on 1 man and 1 woman marriage this happens to be Christian.
The PM the government and our constitution must be able and is able to fairly rule all the people of all the religions.
To have chaos like America? It's best to have one faith which the majority of people agree to...if you don't like it stay in America.

It will be very interesting, I agree. Who will God let in? Ting-um 09-08-06, - 06:03 PM the way you keep beating around the bush...double negatives and such....if she were black u would have said so long ago.
But who cares?? I dont.
You seem to care. You bring it up when ever you want to conveniently divert the attention from your inability to sustain a sensible argument. And, if I don't call myself "black" -- why would I call her "black"?? That may even be the impetus for me arriving at the conclusion that "blacks" have nothing in common.
But its not. The reason I don't bring it up is because instead of me arguing to prove your ignorance and insecurity about the logic behind your various identities -- its easier if I leave you a little rope to hang yourself every time you clutch at the straw of using the race issue against me. Especially since you jumped at the opportunity everytime you get without ever asking me. And before you deny any ignorance and insecurity -- just remember that *YOU* bring it up. I've never brought up the issue of my race or my wife's race. So obviously its something that you care about. I've never asked if you were homosexual or not -- its none of my business. I simply argue the merits of the argument itself. There are heterosexuals that would argue the same points that you do without making their sexuality the topic. You can't seem to do it without making your sexuality or your race or my race an issue. Its called objectivity. If you can't be objective, then you can't be logical. But that is evident from your last 200 posts.
That's why I laugh and call "black" stupid. Because its that safety blanket you cling to. And you try to use it as a weapon even when you don't know who you are fighting. Your ignorance and insecurity make you blind to even consider the strong likelihood that your assumptions are invalid. That's the problem with ignorance. Its when you want to be right so bad because deep down inside, you know that you are wrong.
I'll give you some time to think of an appropriate response. I suggest something semi-clever and self-deprecating.

1. Im not doing the scripture battle with you. It doesn’t matter which of bible verses you quote I disagree with and It doesn’t matter how I interpret those and other bible verses. Are you even reading what im writing without prejudging it?
You should believe whatever you want. I’ll believe what I want. Let the laws treat us neutrally. Don’t respond to anything else until you respond to this please. Let me repeat. You believe what you want. I’ll believe what I want. Let the laws treat us neutrally. The Bahamas is a Christian democracy…but a democracy. People of all faiths and some with none live here.
I know your going to say that Bahamas is a Christian nation. Is it a democracy? Does everyone that live here have to believe or at least live by your (not its) Christian beliefs. If you are not Christian are you unwelcome here. If you are Jewish must you say a Christian prayer in school. I know you would have it this way. Im hoping others can see the wickedness of your desires.
Wickedness of your desires.
2. Disarm It how? Im not trying to disarm it. If someone were posting threads talking about how we should pass a law that would ban the Christian churches from the islands I would be there also arguing against that. I think that unless were all treated fairly there is a danger that any of us could be treated unfairly.
3. You’re a HOMOPHOBE because you are on here openly arguing that people be treated unequally because you believe your god told you thats how it should be. But you are not the average bigot. You’re a smart, intelligent well read woman….even if you (and I) occasionally stray into the petty. Its also mostly clear to me that you actually believe what you believe….i cant say that this means you don’t have venal intent….but its not one out of pure contempt. So I appreciate that you are a smart intelligent and vocal religious woman. That is to be respected and if I never say it again…don’t claim I aint say it at least once. But what your missing is that not everyone believes as you believe and not everyone should be forced to live under the rules that YOUR RELIGION thinks they should be required to live under. That doesn’t mean you cant religiously think that….it just means you have to be able to respect the fact that not everyone believes as you do. This is what you fail to grasp.
4. America has chaos. Well it does but totally unrelated to what were discussing here.
Ting-um 09-08-06, - 07:28 PM LOL.
You are retarded. You keep bringing up the issue, then claim that you don't care. Then you bring up something completely irrelevant and you claim that I'm dodging the issue. You need some therapy. What I say won't make a difference, you need medication. I've already made my point loud and clear. I think you're a little hurt that the only person acknowledging that you've made any sense was Vicky so you try to change the subject. I'm just saying that I've proven my point. Extending this thread for another 4 or 5 pages won't change the fact that you're wrong. And the majority of the intelligent people on BI can clearly see that after the first 4 pages. So why punish them with more of your foolishness?? I'm not that cold-hearted.
WinterGrace 09-08-06, - 08:03 PM 1.
If you are not Christian are you unwelcome here. If you are Jewish must you saw a Christian prayer in school. I know you would have it this way. Im hoping others can see the wickedness of your desires.
Wickedness of your desires.
1) You are not doing the scripture battle thing with me...why not?? This is where it all boils down to THE BIBLE and what God says, we both disagree because you are not a Christian and you don't respect Christian values...no biggie, but stop forcing your agenda on others. You believe man and man should marry. I don't so does the majority of The Bahamas. So, we got that square away....now I am a racist, a bigot and I don't interpret the bible correctly. The Law will never ever treat anyone fairly...what type of la la land you live in. The Bahamas is a Christian nation you got that right, the founding fathers held Christian values, hence, based laws to these values and the majority of persons which make up the Bahamas agreed. If you have a problem with these laws you can leave. What you fail to realize is that the majority of Bahamains still believe in God's values and they still want it to govern the country. NonChristians are welcome but they have to accept what the country has agreed upon. If I went to India I would expect to accept that they are a Hindu nation and their religion governs them. If I went to Iran I would expect to dress as they do based on their laws stemming from their religion. If you look around Nassau, you see some muslims with their head pieces, they respect us and we respect them. That's the laws of the land...take it or leave.
So, my desires are based on the bible which CLEARLY states 1 man and 1 woman to marry, so if my desires are wickedness than obviously you believe Christ is wicked too. Why don't you call it like it is and stop beating around the bush. You have a problem with Christianity simply because it condems your lifestyle....how does it condems...it surely doesn't accept it....God loves the person but He hates the act of homosexuality.
2. Disarm It how? Im not trying to disarm it. If someone were posting threads talking about how we should pass a law that would ban the Christian churches from the islands I would be there also arguing against that. I think that unless were all treated fairly there is a danger that any of us could be treated unfairly.
Christianity is your main agonist. Christian values is the root of my argument and here you are trying to extinguish my beliefs because it is a) Christian b) goes against your lifestyle. So, I seriously, doubt you would fight for anyone...where were you when couple weeks ago they had a "Stop Christianity" Thread... I told you and Vic before it was fruitless debating with you two because it's all about what we believe.
3. You’re a HOMOPHOBE because you are on here openly arguing that people be treated unequally because you believe your god told you thats how it should be.
"My God", just how you say that shows that we believe in two different entities. You don't believe in the same God I believe in because if you did we wouldn't have this debate. It's a fact in the bible but you refuse to come to terms with the proper order of marriage. You believe I am falsely interpretating the bible, I say show me where the bible accepts homosexaul marriage, you don't want to quote with me. What does that say? Deep down you know I am right but you don't want to admit it, instead you want to derail the discussion by adding hate words against me so as to drum up sympathy from others. If you study and accept God's Word as it is for what it is you would be saying He is Just and Fair in His assessment. However, you are not at that level.
I have said on many, many occasions that God has given us free will. So, He doesn't force Himself on us , so why should I? I do not force my beliefs on anyone. Someone asked for it and I gave them it!!! I know everyone does not believe like I do, however, I do live in a country where the majority of persons do and I am very thankful for that aspect. It's refreshing to know. I was proud when Rex Major organized a rally which displays what I believe in and I wanted to share that. Just like how Vic is come on here and tell us when RAB doing x, y and z. When addaboi announce the Drag Queen show etc etc. So, if others can share, so can I and don't try to stop me just because my views are different from yours.

More than I agree with him but I guess you missed that.
So human beings not haveing equal rights is right and human beings having equal rights is wrong.
Some how I don't think you get it.
