In 2004 Mt. Tabor Full Gospel Baptist Church, gathered a team of church members, and went out into the community to obtain data from the citizens of pinewood.
The data asked were questions about Mt. Tabor, and how did the residents of pinewood feel about Mt. Tabor's ministry in the neighborhood.

Well, kudo's to Mt. Tabor and their team for even attempting something of this nature, and doing so in earnest...
Double kudo's to the assistance they rendered to persons who were in need of true assistance.

This is the type of thing a community church SHOULD be focused on, and I am glad someone took an educated and scientific approach, to assesing true needs and dispersing effective support.

Even though they roughly went through about 5 of the largest street corner's in pinewood, the houses polled were over the 1500 mark. That was a great cross sampling.
It would take alot more to get the entire communtiy done, but with time and dilligence, they can do it, and keep track on true issues.
:bahamas:
p.s.
The information gathering was done in one single evening.

That's positive!
So, what was the results of the study? What did they find out? What are they doing about it?
BTW, I believe another small community church did a similar project, I can't remember the name of the church or the community forgive me.
But it's interesting to know the results.

Along with the regular census data....
Some other things were done like, who broke, how has Mt Tabor impacted you and the community, do you need assistance.
I do not have the figures at my hand, but I can get them. Also, if you go into Mt Tabor, you can get the info yourself.

It is amazing how suddenly churches and ministers have become the centre of attention. Very seldom nowadays you here "God" being mentioned. I will not be too quick to blow the whistle of any church, if they were fulfilling the mandate that was given to them by God, the Bahamas would be a better place. Instead of worshipping these persons, let us worship God. We build those beautiful expensive buildings, while the people who live next door go to bed hungry. Looking back at the life of christ and what he did while here on earth, makes me wonder if the church has truly lost it's way!!

Should not we commend a Church for actually doing a good thing?

I swear by some of you people, it si damned if you do and damned if you don't.
This Church did a good thing, and it should be reconized. We did not mention any one single name on this thread, so you bringing up the issue of worshipping these persons has no merrit to this particular thread.

Furthermore, what is more Christ like, than actually going into a community, foot and heel, talking to the people, ministering the word, gathering info on the way about giving effective support, and giving that support.

Why can;t we for one time, call a good thing a good thing for what it is.

You did not have to mention any name, check the name of the thread!!!!!
I never said it was not good. This is the beauty of democracy, I have a right to voice my opinion, if it offends you don't read it !!!

End of story!!!!!!!

mount tabor got a new preacher recently, eh? for years, mount tabor was synonymous with someone else. my bad. i'm all for praising good works, but i'm also all for looking behind the curtain.

:hot: isn't just for sinners anymore apparently.

The name says Mt Tabor...it is the name of the "church" and not the person in the church.
I meant to leave out any names for a reason.

I never said it was not good.
Well, why would you bring up such a silly non issue?
It just seems so silly to me.

This is the beauty of democracy, I have a right to voice my opinion, if it offends you don't read it !!!
And the beauty of freedom of speech is that, I get to call you offbeat, out of place and all the other touched up little names, that would not constitute abuse.

End of story!!!!!!!

Another part of democracy and free speech is that no one person gets to have the last say on anything.
The story continues!

Well, it is obvious now that no one hear has the capacity to not tangent.
Mt Tabor is a church, filled with people. Preachers do not even constitute half of their membership.

nevertheless the name of the church is synonymous with a particular individual...but if the church did do a study i'd be interested to know what they found out and what they plan to do about it

Not what they are going to do about it...
What they DID about it.

The main issue was "How has Mt Tabor affected your community, and how have you benefitted from Mt Tabor outreach"....
The results were positive, and to my knowledge assistance was given to those who needed it...i.e. Help with the bills, inviting them to church functions, lobbying on their behalf for things like better parks, police patrols, faccilities...that kind of thing.

My thing was, even if they did one of those things, after the study was completed that was a good thing. At least they asked.
