I watched on a news network as they talked about Spike Lee's movie/documentary on Hurricane Katrina. Apparently he is suggesting that the levees were Blown up hinting at a conspiracy of some sort! In the middle of a hurriance someone actually blew these levees up? Why, for what? What say you!?

I am a die-hard Spike Lee fan, but I think that theory is absurd. On the Katrina issue...its kinda unfortunate how these "1 year later" news stories are being done..because most of the people in the lower 9th ward are spread all over the U.S but everyone is going to New Orleans to do their follow-up stories.

It would be interesting to see how those people are making it one year later, displaced and all...

absurd...I can believe it...life is stranger than fiction...they were bombed before whose to say it didnt happen again...my working theory is that (1)it took so long for the us govt to respond is because they were trying to concoct a plan to rid the city of its poor, whitewash it...just like what is planned for so many parts of our country west end et al...and (2 )what happened to NOLA residents is no different than what happened with the African slaves stolen from their homeland and dispersed in the new world...tearing up families...displacing people...keep in mind I recently watched the four hour series on hbo and im still baffled and chills are still running through me...what if this happened to us...(again) NEMA is broke...whose gonna come save us?

and speaking of absurd...a little closer to home...who'd ever thought that 8-15% of mayaguana would be give away for 200 per acre...our govt would be involved in drug campaign finance...Bahamian land is being stolen from it rightful owners by rogue thieves and foreignors...just because its hard to fathom that doesnt mean its not true.

I am disappointed that such an acclaimed film producer as Spike Lee would pander to the conspiracy theorists. Why waste explosives when a cat 5 hurricane good get the job done with probably more efficiency anyway?

:gi: disappointed...conspiracy theorist? did you watch the documentary? did you go and seek to find out why spike did the documentary...and spike is a director not a producer. who told you the documentary speculates about a bomb?...did you forget to go to primary sources first, I did provide the links...because had you seen any of the 4 part series you wouldnt known that it just told the story of the plight of the people it formed no bias but that of identifying with the humanity of folks who lost everything just like a good larry smith tough call coloumn your draw your own conclusion out of a well put together piece...black, white, hispanic, rich and poor..."when the levees broke" told the story of the people and had photo montages of the carnage. had you seen the documentary maybe you wouldnt retort with such an insensitive...and totally unfounded specious argument and assinine statement...lil mama you blinked. ;)

imagine if someone said a cat 5 hurricane would wipe us out...how the hell would you feel?

LOL. I dont know why I bother sometimes, but here goes.

I was responding directly to the suggestion made in the first post that the levees were blown up, as supposed to being damaged by a cat 5 hurricane. I think the theory (and it is a theory unless Spike was able to provide concrete evidence) is absurd. I feel much sympathy for the folks that suffered in Katrina, but instead of pandering to conspiracy theories, effort should be put into documentiung the human plight, as well as highlighting the break down in communication both at the state and federal government levels.

This whole cliche mentality, that Bush hates Black people, and it was a conspircay to whitewash New Orleans is dumbing down the plight of poor black poor folk in the US.

:what:

no this is too easy...this is not funny infact its sad...when you dont know nothing...say nothing...dont read a few post and thing youve figured it all out...the documentary wasnt about the levee being blown up it didnt even touch on that...it was about when the levees broke and what happened to the people due to that...it also touched on the other gulf coast victims and what happened to them...you are wrong...you insulted this man's integrity and his ability and his work and you made yourself look stupid in the process...he director jones didnt pander to anyone....the documentary doest speculate of even suggest the levees being blown up, from my collection, its all human interest...the best thing I can say to you at this point is shut up...your dispicable and you wont even admit to you being wrong...you are wrong. :hammer:

say dumbing down the poor black folks in the US...how did you make that connection...where the hell did that even come from? better yet who is dumbing down the poor black folks of the Bahamas?
