View Full Version : Can you have it all?
Lester R. Cox 09-27-03, - 10:18 PM How do you feel about having it all, do you believe it's possible?
Notice I asked you first how you felt about having it all before I asked you your belief about having it all because your deep down beliefs cause you to feel. Most people will instinctively feel no you cannot have it all. 65% of our respondents so far doubted whether we could have it all believing that you had to make certain tradeoffs. Why?
Deep down inside they tapped into their belief system and from experience made two assumptions; 1) I don't have it all and 2) nobody I know has it all and concluded, you cannot have it all.
What the question did for me was forced me to rethink what having it all means and whether I have what it takes to develop a vision of how having it all looks.
Often times we rarely check our current vision and belief system and because we don't we live limiting lives of quiet desperation.
So, how do you feel about having it all, do you believe it's possible?
I believe it depends on what you believe and what you can get a vision of.
The person who comes up with the best reply to this question will win a dinner for two at the Seaside Buffet, Wyndham Resort, Cable Beach.
I will announce the winner on my show "Step Up" which airs Tuesdays 9am to 9:30am on 104.5FM.
Claudius Knowles 09-28-03, - 04:42 PM At the end of this life, if you are able to look back and see the challenging times and changes in your life, acknowledge and appreciate the positive changes they brought you if you are still happy, then you have had it all. Yes you can have it all.
Mr. Cox,
Can you have it all? I think it was George Carlin ( I might be wrong) who said, "You can't have it all. Where would you put it?" That brings up the questions, "What is "it?" George Carlin's "it" was stuff, things, belongings. I think the "it" you are driving at is, happiness, joyful mind, peace!
Can you clarify what "it" is? I ask because your "it" might not be my "it."
I look forward to "it," your answer!
Also, with the greatest respect, you say that you are a motivator, I don't know what you motivate in mankind. Is it the wallet or the soul? There is a shocking difference and may reflect on what "it" is.
P.S. Does any of us really know what "it" is? Perhaps, there lies the problem! Perhaps we don't know "it" when we see it, or even have "it."

'IT' is relative to you, when I think about 'IT' I am thinking about whatever 'IT' is that fires you up, whether that 'IT' is your wallet or your soul. I happen to think the two are attached. What I motivate people to do is get better at whatever they want to get better at by exploring their ‘whys’ and ‘excuses’ and then tapping into the power within.
'IT' for me is a great life with financial independence, a life of purpose and influence, work I love, a solid family life with well adjusted kids and great sex, an attachment to a spiritual source beyond one’s experience, a circle of real friends and a general sense of fulfillment, peace and happiness.
I hope my reply helps!

Thanks for the reply, read the other responses and let me know if they expand your idea of it. I think a real problem for most of us is getting our vision around our life. W/o a vision, we perish. With a vision we flourish!
.......I hope my reply helps!
Yes. A great help. Thank you.
k.o.o.l.b.o.n.z.e 09-29-03, - 05:41 PM is this the same lester cox that used to be to the pilgrim church of God? but on to the question at hand...
the answer is a resounding yes and no. everything in this world is subjective to one's desires, goals, or simply what principles they were raised on. if a person's wish in life is to be in a financial position where he works only when he WANTS to and he actually acheives this then he can say that he has it all while others looking in will think that the man has come up short in life. so like i said at the beginning it's all subjective and will undoubtedly vary from person to person whether or not they got everything in life.
p.s. what about those that cant get access to a radio during those hours? will you post the winner on the forum also? (not expecting to win, just want to know who you think came with the best answer)

Mr. Cox, you said "....whether that 'IT' is your wallet or your soul. I happen to think the two are attached."
Wow! If your soul is happy because your wallet is happy what will happen when we go to heaven and there is no money? Will the soul become unhappy again cut off from its supply of ‘green backs?'
But I do agree with you when you say "the power with in" - read on.
--------------------------------------------------------
To any, and all, that read on:
You can't have it all until you know what "it" is!
When you find out what "it" is you will find that you already have "it" - all.
Alas! Most of us think things are "it." If you work hard, or win the lotto, you might get some things but can you keep them? We worry about protecting them from robbers. We don't want our things scratched so we build a big house to hold it all - then we worry about losing the house. That does not sound like "it" to me.
So, what would my "it" be and can I have it all? First, I do have it all. I was born with it, as were you. What is that "it?" It is peace! Peace in the storm as well as in fair weather. Peace in the middle of strife. Peace in want as well as in plenty. Peace that does not depend on my circumstances because my/our circumstances can change at the "drop of a hat!"
I was given that peace when I took birth (so were you) but as I grew up people kept throwing stuff on it until it was well covered by the worries of the world. It was drowned in other people's worries and doubts that were imposed on me, and which I willingly took because I did not know better. (Sounds like you too?)
I was told that peace was fleeting, that I did not deserve it but "others" would give it to me. So, I waited. It never came! I went out in search of it. I found men who said they knew the way to peace but did not posses it themselves. I met men who possessed it but did not know how they came by it. I chased peace as a child might chase a butterfly, but it got away!
One day, in the shadow of the "Great Middle Way." (Buddhism,) and with a strong dose of the teachings of Christ. I sat down. I meditated. After a while, a long while, the layers that covered my peace fell away. I now have what I always had but did not know it! The butterfly now chases me!
Can you have it all? You got it all! Just awake to that fact.

niablorre 09-30-03, - 04:01 PM Yes, one can have it all. It depends on the individuals persons definition of having it all. As a little boy growing up, I believed that I was made to fufill some kind of purpose. I had a hard time figuring out what that purpose was. I dreamed about being an engineer, with a beautiful home, a gorgeous wife and wonderful children. It did not work out that way thankfully. You see it was my way. One day as I did as a ritual (I was no believer at the time) I opened the Bible and the words of this scripture text spoke to me "Matthew 5:33, but seek you first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these shall be added unto you". My thought process about life, purpose and success changed from that day onward. I opened the bible again as was my ritual daily after that and those very same scriptures spoke to me every time. I have since then believed those words that spoke to me. I have and still do confess the Lord Jesus Christ. I HAVE IT ALL because the Lord Jesus overcame and inherited all things And because I believed on his name I was given the power to become a Son of God and Joint Heir with Christ who has it all, thus I have it all.

lESTER,
We can absolutely have our "ALL and like everything else saying it is the easiest part. So many of us say no to this question because we are not willing to do what it takes to have our "ALL". We want the magic man to come and waive his wand and make it all happen for us. With the hope of not sounding shallow I would venture to say that most of our "ALL is the same thing. We want a great Job that pays well, a really nice house, good relationships with our spouces, children, and our God, a great car and now days a jeep. Let's not forget some money in the Bank that will allow us to ocassionally purchase our little heart's desires. Some of us want more than the above but we all know that there are less of them that there are of us.
Nika23 10-02-03, - 05:45 PM Hello Mr. Cox,
It is my opinion a person could have it all. It all depends on what having it all means to that individual. Having it all to one person could mean having more money than they know what to do with, and to another it could mean having the family that they always wanted.
It all deals with the persons level of contentment. When the question is asked about having it all the first thought that comes into ones mind is loads of money. If I can draw your attention to one well known scripture Matt. 16:26, "For what profited a man to gain the whole world, and loose his own soul?..." Can you answer that?
That brings me to tell you what having it all means to me and if you can have it all. Having all the money that I need and don't need would definitely be a wonderful thing and I could buy all the things that I ever wanted and dreamed of; but the question for myself is would this make me happy or would I be content with just that. The answer to my question is NO.
Having it all to me means having the fruit of the Spirit which is everything to me." love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
AS FOR ME.......I HAVE IT ALL. :-)
How do you feel about having it all, do you believe it's possible?
