Bey slicer we changed that topic long time man... we talking about Adam and Eve... But seriously...3rd world countries are always taken advantage of...If you really want to do something about it...we need to ensure that more Bahamians are educated and can govern theirself aptly. Ting-um 09-19-06, - 12:39 PM There was never a need to barter; he had the Perfect Boss oh by the way....Eve had a 2nd offer...which she accepted, subsequently Adam accept... Eve wanted to be the Boss: to be like God ..the perfect boss wouldn't have kicked him out of Eden.. To get even more anal, Adam and Eve weren't sentient in the sense that they possessed intentionality. Intentionality requires the recognition of a 'self', and subsequently 'free will', which Adam and Eve did not possess until after they ate the forbidden fruit. When they did eat and did attain self-awareness, they noticed their nakedness and hid. By the way, that is the reason why religion is still so strong. canewry 09-19-06, - 12:55 PM ..the perfect boss wouldn't have kicked him out of Eden.. Surely, both Adam and Eve was aware of self and self improvement...Eve was tempted based on her desire to improve herself; the snake told her simply...if you want to be like God, eat the apple...it will open your eyes and you will be better off... Also, God did not kick Adam and Eve out of the Garden he asked them to leave and to to return...why because they decided to work for another boss...It can only be one head in an organization...So God allowed them to rule their ownsleves. Ting-um 09-19-06, - 01:22 PM No, they weren't. Curiosity does not require intentionality. They ate from the tree because they were curious, not because they wanted to be like God. Which seems like a fine line because curiosity leads to discovery and discovery leads to learning and improving. But that is a retrospective view of the process. Eve did not know if being like God was a good or bad thing -- infact, she did not know the difference between good or bad -- so making the choice to improve couldn't be a motive. As for God asking them to leave.. Genesis Ch. 3 Verse 24 says "...so he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life" -- That doesn't sound like he asked them to leave. Sounds like they were kicked out. Earlier in the chapter God told Adam his punishment for disobedience, and he did the same for Eve. You're saying that God gave them a choice, this sounds much more like punishment than choice. bahmaboy 09-20-06, - 04:29 PM ..the perfect boss wouldn't have kicked him out of Eden.. Ting-um 09-20-06, - 05:33 PM Because its a process of growth. Do you think giving birth to a child is punishment considering the ignorance and innocence that an unborn child experiences before birth?? You have to understand that the story is metaphorical, not literal. People that wrote the story can only look back from their perspective to characterize the scenario. And from their perspective the birth of the human experience as a sentient being was painful, and in a sense, cruel -- but a necessary evil in order for man to understand his purpose. Just like a child has to be born in order to understand what good and evil is, man had to come from under the protection of God in order to fully understand the difference between good and evil. And as harsh as it may seem, that is the process. You may as well, ask why do we have to go through life if God already knows if we're going to heaven or hell. |
