View Full Version : Clothing Cut 4 Us...
nationbuilder 09-17-06, - 03:45 PM Ok this is for my sistas (and brothas who wanna chime in), but I am so sick and tired of going into clothing stores and not being able to find jeans, pants, etc cut to fit black women properly.
Most black women know that shopping for jeans is a lifelong affair, because most jeans and pants are cut the same way, such that they dont fit us right. Either they are too tight around the hips and thighs, or they are not darted in the waist to fit our waists right so we either have to wear jeans that ride too low, or we gotta be all hooked up with belts just to wear the jeans or pants.
And then many dresses are also cut in ways that dont flatter our physiques. I dont know why designers havent addressed this matter en-masse yet, seeing as black women have so much buying power.
It is very frustrating. Lord knows it took long enough for makeup companies to make colors that didnt make us look like clowns.
The fashion industry is still very much behind when it comes to catering to our needs.

guess jeans also...but not in all instances...the sexy girls(full figured) usually have to settle fot the ugly jeans...while the little skinny anorexic ones get the nice lookin ones.

I tried on some Ralph Lauren jeans the other day and they were so-so. Tommy Jeans were whack, and anyway if you have a defined waist line those low rise jeans just dont hack it. And then if they have jeans with the rise at the waist, they are relaxed fit, so you wind up lookin like M.C Hammer.
I was in Atlanta this week, but House of Dereon Jeans havent made it there yet..Beyonce says the jeans are cut for us..when I go to Macy's East in NY I'll check them out...

FUBU is urban gear, but I dont know about how their jeans are cut. FUBU never promotes the cut of their designs, only the styles.

Well its the coca-cola bottle chicks who really get done in, cuz if you happen to get the jeans to fit your hips and thighs right, its WAY too big in the waist.
This always happens to me and I'm tired of it bey! lol

Thats just what I was saying to myself while I was in the "A" this week. And not just jeans, but fashion pants too.
Black women are constantly forced to settle for jeans that never fit right, and with jeans being the most popular pants sold on the market, that is just plain whack.
