It seems like the Government has it's own devious way of introducing taxes. After the Government boasted that there will be no new tax in the 2005/2006 budget, they went ahead anyway and slapped us with an airport tax in the disguise of a surcharge.

They have not said how much will be added, but whatever it is, it will be hard on consumers. At present a round trip ticket to Nassau from Freeport is about $180.00, with the airport tax I fear it will cost about $200 to go to Nassau.

In Freeport, the Port Authority implemented a tax a year or two ago to defray the cost of the new terminal, now another terminal another tax!! The bad thing is that because the Bahamas is made up of islands, it seems that I will be taxed for each airport I land at, BY THE WAY, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THAT CANADIAN FIRM WHO IS SUPPOSE TO TAKE OVER MANAGEMENT OF THE S.L.O.P AIRPORT, whenever they reach, I hope they do not ask for a user fee.

Gleny's Hanna- Martin need to fix up the airport before they introduce the tax, let me see what I am paying for. But then again, they change the name before fixing it.

I think I ger catch the boat!!!!:sailing:

As I understand it a tax is already on a ticket, has been for a while. The moneys collected was to maintain the airport. Whatever happened to that? They sure did not use much of it for matainance.:dgi:

And that money too would go missing...
and the airport like everything else in this country will remain the same.

the monies going towards big houses on the lake...
find the houses, then you find the money subsequently you find the people who filtering it out of the treasury.
