On Friday, September 29 at about 7:50 P.M. an out of control driver in a red Dodge Ram hit three cars near the Treasure Cay entrance.

Wensil Laroda was a passenger in a Honda Civic which was completely destroyed. He died instantly.

Wensil was an intelligent, fun-loving, talented individual, with a commitment to God, and a gift for music. He was Band Captain in the Wesley College Band. He was mature beyond his years. He got on well with everybody, and was always a joy to be around. He was active in the Full Gospel Assembly, and lead member of their band.

On the evening of this incident, Wensil was coming from his Church's band practice. So were the passengers of the other two cars hit. The drive home was one mile. My God, our young people can't drive one mile home from church without their lives being endangered by a lunatic who should never have been driving in the first place?

The Hatian driver of the Dodge truck was helped from his vehicle, then fled the scene, but was later arrested. He probably purchased his driver's license from the "License superstore in Coopers Town", run by John McIntosh. It is known that if you fail your driver's test in Marsh Harbour or Nassau, you can buy a license in Coopers Town.

This was not an accident, it was conspiracy to murder.

Many serious road accidents involved immigrants. Last weekend a car hit a building on a major road in Marsh Harbour and broke in two. This was a 25 mph zone. Two weeks ago, there was another serious accident in Treasure Cay. Many of these people don't signal, and don't know how to dim their lights.

A local Magistrate has had to revoke licenses issued at this office. Many irregularities have been noted. Meetings and other fora have been held. Complaints have been made to the Road Traffic Department in Nassau. Our lives continue to be in danger. We must act now. I am determined to close down this conduit for deadly driver's licences before the end of October. If the police and Minister of Transport don't deal with John McIntosh I shall; by any means necessary. We lost Wensil, who could have become Prime Minister ... my son or your child could be next.

I know 2 hatians that were killed by a Bahamian Lady who lost control of her sports car ... she was chasing her boyfriend who was cheating on her. . on Soldier Road by the Batelco building across from Audio Plus, they were on the other side of the road, man and woman, engaged to get married, she lost control and ran them through the wall, both died. This happened years ago, in the mid 90's - its the only funeral I ever attended so far. They never got justice, as to the government they were "just" haitians .. the lady continued to live in society and is probably still driving on the road today.

my point xactly, thanx Rory, justice 4 some,we the people perpetuate underhanded justice,we want and xpect elected officials and law-makers 2 start and consequently continue the trend of delayin justice if a Bahamian is at fault, but swift persecution of non Bahamians,we ask 4 our kind of justice and lawmakers give it 2 stay in power,we have only ourselves 2 blame 4 corruption,we tolerate it,and even relish in it,so what does that say about us as a whole?

I'm sure it is as you say it my brudda, but the Haitian situation is very tense here in Abaco, that is why attitudes are so polarised. The Haitians are close to outnumbering us here and are very bold.

Another example: My car i had lent to my brother, a couple of months ago. Car comes around bend on the wrong side of the road, clips him head on (right side) .. my car is a write off. Other driver charged but only has Road Act. End of that story.

A few years ago, i turn in front of a car, which is doing well up to 100mph (unknowingly) but was still a fair distance away as he just came around a bend. He hit my car, wiped out, entire left side of it gone (right hand drive), spun around a couple times though a couple trees also. Hit and run as the driver has to be chased down by the cops. No proper investigation was ever done, he never used his brakes as he drove right through me .. big american car. I got charged, I paid the fine, my insurance paid, the car was a write off. This "driver" had no drivers licence, no insurance, car was not licenced or inspected, and it wasnt even his car.

I dont see Haitian or Bahamian, just that laws are not being enforced.
In these instances noone was killed, but could have been, both instances only the driver was in the car, if there was a passenger either time, they would have been dead.

A road block once every couple months, every month, or even every day or week, just wont cut it, but they (road traffic) dont seem to get it - enforcement of laws is a 24 hour job.

Looks like in your case they were just looking for someone to fingure point....sickening.

The road blocks just make the traffic situation worse. I don't know if they have the money to do a 24/7 or not, but if not they should fight for it. If there is no constant reminder of the law in the form of enforcement (not some dinky sign nobody has the time to stop to read) no one will respect the law, so no one will abide by it.

You can call me bias if you want, but I havent seen one instance anywhere in this nation where traffic was better when police try to direct traffic. When police is involved....lets just say don't breath a sigh of relief.....

Thanks, guys for your concern.
Fact is, this murderer's driver's licence was revoked after a previous incident. Also, this is his third traffic death. True, Haitians and Bahamians are purchasing these licences, but mainly Haitians without status or a command of the English. One Haitian paid $300 for a driver's license by cheque! All are criminals. Note my statement: "conspiracy to murder". They should all hang .. including the well-paid cabinet ministers who have ignored this problem for too long.

I heard the report by Silbert Mills on Island FM News. I was abit taken back when he name the driver who (reporterly) caused the accident a Hatian National and gave no name. From the start he was so bais that I could not belive that a reporter could be allowed to do this in this day and time...., I feel that accidents are cause by Bahamians, Hatian, Legal and and not legal persons, a name should have been given and the report should not have drawn conclusions as yet..., the matter I suspect is still under investiation.

However, Alphaman you are to be commended for bring to our attention this driver's licence illag operations. But what is the connection to the Road Traffic Department and the operator of this licence operation, that is serious.

BY Law if what you are saying is true some one should be made to account and at least if it is true and has been broiught to the attention of the authories before, then in Criminal chargesshould be filed at the foot of the Minister of Transport, the Controller of Road Traffic.

These deaths should not go in vain..., Keep up your good works.....

It is such a shame that this boy had to die. I understand that the Haitian guy that caused the accident and then ran has caused many accidents before.
Do you really thing this guy took a drivers test-the written and driving test???? I think not!! Anyone that lives in North Abaco (or the rest of Abaco) knows that all you have to do is go to the Cooper's Town Road Traffic office and see Mr. John McIntosh. He will give them out left and right. When I went for my drivers test he did not "have the time" to give me my test even though I had studied the rules of the road and was ready to take him for a drive. I am a good driver but is scares me to think that he does that with others who do not know the rules of the road and are careless drivers. If this Haitian guy had taken the written test and gone for a test drive he most likely would have not passed.
I am praying for this childs family and hope that they can have peace and keep the memory of their child alive even though that Haitian guy will most likely be out and driving again soon.
