Truck driver kills three girls in Amish school shooting

PARADISE, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- A 32-year-old truck driver walked into an Amish schoolhouse Monday, binding and shooting three girls execution-style before killing himself, police said Monday.

Seven others were wounded in the attack, which police said appeared to be a revenge killing for an incident that occurred two decades ago.

"It seems as though he wanted to attack young female victims, and this is close to his residence, that's the only reason we can figure that he went to the school," said Comm. Jeffrey Miller, Pennsylvania State Police.

"It's a horrendous crime scene," he said.

The shooting took place at Wolf Rock School in Paradise, a school run by the Amish community with about 27 students in grades 1 through 8.

One of the children died in the arms of a trooper, Miller said.

in new orleans awhile back.. a couple of gunmen walked into a school gymnasium and executed a student who was witness to a murder..

no.. these things never happen to black people or in urban areas..

Sadly enough, the death toll is about 5 now (girls that is). But Ain't sure if any of you guys ever went to Lancaster but the Amish communities are just as accessible as any other area in or around Redding, Lancaster and the like. I mean even in downtown Philly the Amish are accessible. They have some of the best stores in Central Philly and the Train Station market near Broad St. But I say that to say they are not as socially recluse as many make them to be, many of the bus rides to "Amish Country" in fact pull right onto their farms and within their communities. It's a great source of revenue for them and they seem very welcoming and brutally honest ppl. They are very proud of their way of life and I grew to respect that. I really do feel sorry that it has happened bcause now I feel they will pull back on their "worldly" attitude towards others of different religious and social belief.

1. Whoever said that this sort of thing doesn't happen in urban schools is misinformed. The reason why you don't hear about it is because it is so prevalent at urban schools. The only difference is the size of the guns and the amount of victims. In predominantly white areas and schools -- because their guard is down -- kids come in with huge rifles and kill ten people at a time and then kill themselves. In predominantly minority areas and schools -- because they have a history of violence -- there is a police presence, so the kids bring smaller guns and they go after specific targets. I remember when I lived in West Palm Beach that gangs used to call into the radio shows and pass messages over the airwaves -- eventually they had to stop allowing kids to call in and give "shout-outs" because people were fighting and shooting up the schools the next day.

2. I'm waiting to hear somebody complain about how bad non-religious people are. I notice that anytime somebody religious does something bad -- people always blame the religion. But when somebody does something bad to religious people -- nobody brings up the issue of religion. And yes, I know its because it is a non-issue. But it is never an issue, even when religious people do things inconsistent with their belief. I just wanted to point out the stupidity and hypocrisy. Thanks.
