I am wondering if there’s anybody out there who can put together a group of 40 or so individuals that possess the uncanny ability to look directly into another individual’s face, smile and with the utmost sincerity lie to them about being concern about them and their family’s welfare and future to the point that they can get the simple majority of those individual’s whom they lied to in that respective constituency to join together in unity and vote for them so that they can be elected and choose me as prime minister to lead this wonderful country for six years.

The reason I say six years is that, I only need to be there long enough to get the PM Pension, and allow the individual who sets this up for me to govern for the other four as I would be busy exploring the world using my new diplomatic passport.

Has anyone notice that for the past few years much has been said about the Prime Minister Pension Act but nothing has been done to change it. For months now we have heard how the former prime minister orchestrated this event as a means of enriching himself. The laws does not allow for this to be taken from him, but why hasn’t an amendment been proffered to correct this mistake if it is one, before any additional financial burden be put upon the backs of the Bahamian people. It should be done before this current prime minister or any further Prime Minister become entitled to the same and we are unable to take it from them also.

Is this a deliberate neglect to allow the current PM to partake of the same benefit he and his colleagues so often criticize and later say to the Bahamian public that he wasn’t the one to put it in place. Surely if there was a sincere desire to change this act it could have been done by now. Election is around the corner and much is said about it, but nothing has been done.

Maybe the former PM’s strategy is to declare to the Bahamian people that they should elect him because if they reelect the current PM they would have to pay him a hefty sum forever. “As least with me, I will continue to get the same pension as there is no provision for a second pension for being the prime minister thrice, unless of course i win a majority of the seats in parliament and create a new act to allow that.”

Can someone explain to me why nothing has been done.

I don’t want to be a politician just Prime Minister.

First time: Shame on you
Second Time Shame on me.

The situation involving the Prime Minister pension act is very simple. The PLP love to have it both ways. They love to beat the Former Prime minister with it while not changing it because it would be beneficial to the present Prime Minister if he wins another mandate from the Bahamian people.

In short it is call hypocrisy of the highest order. The PLP with a simple majority can amend the act to avoid the possibility of double dipping! That would put an end to the matter.

This group of merry men will change nothing that they say is detrimental to our national welbeing...yet will not miss an opportunity to remind us that the former government made it so...even while they have the majority vote in the house to simply change things!! Everything we complain about is met with....the former government did it to yinna or some dumb sh!t like.."LIKE IT OR LUMP IT"!!! Or some other stupidness like " I een see no cuts and bites" after the whole world knew that them arrogant MPs were fighting in government office. And "they een fight..they just row er lile bit"! Man, the big giant MP mussie does talk real loud through his right hand er? Or Code had "hot" breath and burned he right hand while rowing at him so!!! I think our PM's recent sickness has "fecked" up his ability to be rational!!! What ya say: "He een never had no damn sense nohow"!!!!

I don't know what world Perry lives in...but in the world of sense...to have the powerr to change a thing and do not....while complaining about who made it so...or who is enjoying it...is insanity!!! Hell, he can just change the damn things already!!! After all, he is PM and leads the government....It don't take a rocket scientist to know that. Oh, I forgot...he took about 14 years to finish law school!! I guess that he always had half of his brain tied behind his back!!!! Mr "I-een-know-that-they-were-fixing-to-send-90-to-the-states"!!!! His new moto should be: "DON'T LOOK TO ME FOR ANY LEADERSHIP OR DECISION MAKING ABILITY....I JUST YINNA PRIME MINISTER"!!!

I have given up on this bunch of hopeless jokers....and the leading numbskull....good common sense has totally eluded them all..it seem...WITH EXCEPTION OF A FEW!!!

I now look to the alternatives for hope....while our PM fiddles as the Bahamas burn and his followes are beating the sh!t outta each other...that 's when they een raping or tiefing someone's things!!!:cutie:

See how you and your peanut gallery always talking foolishness. Whatever reason the Government has for not changing that law cannot have anything to do with "something to beat Hubert over the head with". As Hubert Ingraham said up until the day of his nomination at The FNM convention,
"I will not be running for leader."
If Hubert Ingraham was not going to run then what possible reason could The Government have to need "something to beat Hubert over the head with". There would be no need as he would not be the opponent in this upcoming election. So either The Government had some other reason for not changing the law, or they knew that an habitual liar like Hubert Ingraham was probably lying. You tell me which one you think it was.

But redhead, it was the PLP who said it would bring this Bill to the House you know. They werent being called on by sides opposite to do so. It was one of its promises in the Speech from the Throne, and the PLP communicated as much even before the Speech from the Throne.

So if you feel that passing such a law would make them petty and vindictive, then thats what you are saying they actually are, because the Bill was their idea.

I am referring to the practice of repealing the laws of previous administrations out of spite. To repeal this law so as to prevent Mr. Ingraham from collecting his pension would be made to look petty (you know that) as the opposition would carry on as if it was the end of the free world (and many on this forum would agree). I seem to remember Mr. Ingraham stating that a former Prime Minister would only collect his Prime Minister's pension after his retirement from Parliament. Sir Lynden had to give up his South Andros seat and a bi-election was called. After this had transpired Mr. Ingraham changed his tune and the meat of the bill to make sitting MPs eligible for a PM's pension (either he felt sorry for what he had done, or he just used this bit of coersion to get Sir Lynden out of The House and secure another seat for The FNM, or he realized that had sitting MPs been ineligible for a PMs pension he may not have been eligible after 2002 as he had no intention of leaving politics. The explanation has to be somewhere in there. If you could bring yourself to acknowledge any wrong on behalf of The FNM you would have to concede these points. Don't bother though as I know you will not and can not.

lord redhead I dont know when you are gonna quit with this selective ignorance of yours. The Bill when passed, would not be retroactive - it would affect those under whom the Bill applies AFTER it is passed, not before.

So the Bill, if brought and when passed, would not affect Ingraham and what has already been given to him, nor would it require him to make any action with the same.

But, if the Bill were passed BEFORE Lady P was made DGG, it could have given rise to debate on the intricacies of the Bill.

This is my problem with you. You are clearly not a dumb person, but when it comes to such discussions, you either out of ignorance or intent, leave out or fail to acknowledge critical facts of your argument that would make your argument ultimately illigitimate.

And whats worse is that as soon as you are proven deficient in an argument what suddenly becomes your crutch? "Oh, you just hate the PLP."

Oh that political parties would have more critical thinkers as their strong supporters!
