After listening to Love 97 today I concurred with Mr Moltrie that we have a culture of corruption in the Bahamas. Hence this thread seeks to expose the different types of Corruption in the Bahamas. Let us identify these corrupt Ministries, Law Enforcement Agencies, Business and churches without calling any names.

Each year like so many Bahamians I go to get my car inspected, however this year I was reliably informed by a friend that he can get it done for me without even taking my car to the inspection centre. This same friend also told me that there is a lady who works at Road Traffic Department whom once given $75.00 would licence any car without Insurance.

What's your experience with Corruption in the Bahamas?

Not only we corrupt, we love to intimidate nah.

Has anyone heard about the condemnation by the Min. on National Security on the fact that a "certain radio station" receiveda a supposed classified and unpublished report then discussed its contents with the public without permission. They even threaten possible legal action.... I mean by God what was so big about the report being discussed, maybe they mad cause they probably didn't get to pretty up the original and release their own version. At least that's how I feel about it. They need to remenba the saying "what don't come out in da wash ga come out in da rinse" ein no need to be shame of the truth..

Ha, If I tell you, you won't believe em!

I have been targeted by some of Nassau's finest boys in blue!

I have been pulled over a record breaking 48 times, and this is just counting the last 3 years! Ever since that incident! A certain male relative of a inspector works with my wife, and she has constantly complain to me and her boss (who also happens to be the cousin of the male in question) that this guy makes advances towards her and she doesn't appreciate it. It got so bad tell one day he decided to actually act on his feelings and touched my wife inappropriately! Being the hot head that I have been labeled, I went down by the office that afternoon and got in a physical altercation with this punk! To cut a long story short, I ended up in a cell and he when to the hospital! Two days later I was served a summons to appear in court for assault! I was peeved! I ended up paying a $2000 fine, which was the one of two! The incident after that, I was fine $3000 for the same thing, and spent a next 6 months on probation. Only the beginning of my hatred towards these cowards.

On Halloween of 2004, me and my 26 year old nephew was pulled over by the police on the red light by wholesale wines on the highway! We had just left a office party that some of the guys from work planned. I was a little buzzed by the red wine that I was drinking that night, so decided to let my nephew who is a tourist from the Florida area drive.
(he was actually thinking on coming over here to study/work in the marine biology field)
I will be the first to admit that he looks like trouble, but he is just a gentle giant. 6 ft 10 and weighing in at 300 plus pounds, he was unfairly targeted by our police men. So as we get to the light, 2 squad cars pull up as if they were on a bust or something, hop out the cars with automatic weapons in hand and demanding us out the truck. I got out the truck and was quietly searched. My nephew got out and was also searched. Nothing was found. I was then told to show my license, which I humbly obliged! The next thing I know my nephew was thrown to the floor by two officers, while one stand overhead with a drawn gun. So the cop in front of me was checking in to see if I had any warrants or tickets, I ran over to the other side of the truck to watch the officers actually kicking my nephew while he was face down on the floor! Only the grace of God must have controlled my emotions because somebody would have died (possibly me) that night if I have reacted. As I approached my nephew, the guns switched directions towards me. The officer that was checking my license came round and saw what was going on, said something to the other officers and they just left! Just like that! I memorized the numbers of two of the officers and formed a complaint against them which never manifested to nothing. I have been told that my case will come up in January 05, it is now 06 and I have been pleading for a day in court, but yet, NOTHING!

And just most recently the DERON “SHARKY” BETHEL incident, which may I add has yet to be resolved. Alison Maynard just held a meeting on the new park where SHARKY
was killed, but has yet to say anything that would explain the actions being taken towards this kind of brutality by our police men!

Just a few of many long stories why I hate COPS!

Me too, I doh support government forcein' a good driver like me to spend almost 1000 dollars a year on automobile insurance anywho..I think that is wrong especially when if something does happen you are on your own and the insurance company can do what they want with your black arse! Screw all insurance companies (except the good one (JS Johnson) lol! Remeber the story of how people in Grand Bahama got screwed with the replacement cost routine they ran on people? They had adjusters (on their pay roll) determine what it would cost, etc, etc to do etc, etc. A total scam, and no help from our dear leaders.

Dont know, they worked out okay for me in my couple accidents. .. :)
Except that in 2 cases the other drivers didnt have any insurance or one had road act ... the latest one where the other driver was charged, my car is a write off, and he only had road act .. so that was $2000 down the drain.

I was paying $1800 a year for my jeep the first couple years .. it went down to $800 but is back at $1200 now from a seperate incident...

seems like everybody is on the take. pay under the table to get what you need. maybe it's because of low salaries.
