THE TRUTH ABOUT THE PM's PENSION!

The subject of a pension for a politician, whether it be for a Member of Parliament or a Prime Minister, can be a nightmarish never-ending money scam, because once it is instituted, the taxpayers will be paying politicians or their families forever. Most countries, inclusive of this one, cannot afford that kind of arrangement and though it may not happen in this generation's lifetime, ultimately, the bottom of the taxpayers money barrel will fall out.

When this reality is recognized along with how and why a PM's Pension was set up, the truth must be told as to why Sir Lynden Pindling got a PM's Pension retroactively, in the twilight of his life and how it really benefitted former PM, Hubert Ingraham and how Christie will do anything to attain the same. It can never be right for a Government or it's Leader to perpetrate a heist on the public's Treasury through the means of pure politics with the goal being pure greed.

We know that the subject of a PM's Pension came about as a result of the 1997 General Elections (not 1992, as lying Eileen Carron of The Tribune would have you believe), and Pindling leading The PLP into two consecutive defeats. Some may think that the idea was hatched just before the 1997 Elections because of Pindling's weird 'favorite son speech' on Windsor Park, days before the election. Do you remember that? And though Pindling was a vanquished leader after the 1997 defeat, he was still a sentimental and popular figure and as a result of that an amazing combustion brought the bad characters of Pindling, Ingraham and Christie together for one last time to con the public. But of course Ingraham and Christie were also playing their 'side game' to finally get rid of Pindling, like they tried in the 1980's with the Americans. So it was game within a game within a bigger game.

After the 1997 General Elections defeat, Pindling knew that the only shot he'd have of getting more money would be to stay around front line politics until someone paid him to get lost. Christie and The PLP couldn't find the money needed to pay him off, but the Government Treasury could and Ingraham would be more than happy to open The Treasury because he always wanted to be Pindling and be adored by a nation of people and respected by the world. So in truth, Ingraham never wanted to get 'under' Pindling's skin, through all of their battle she wanted to get 'in' Pindling's skin. But Ingraham could never be Pindling.

So, for Pindling to get the Government's money, he was made to retire first, if he wanted the money. This move would also satisfy Christie because he'd never control The PLP with Pindling around, and that is the reason that it was convenient for only Ingraham and Christie to negotiate Pindling's deal. Both stood to gain their desires, the emotional and financial ones. And now we fast forward to today and Pindling Is dead, his family gets his payoff; Ingraham is getting paid as a retired PM and now as 'The Opposition Leader and as an MP. He's being paid even more on top of the PM's Pension, but there was no legal stipulation that a PM could only get a pension if he was retired from politics.

So Ingraham is getting gravy 'up the wahzoo' while Pindling had to leave politics first. And then there is Christie letting people assault - Ingraham about his greed concerning the PM's Pension, but doing absolutely nothing to change it because he's hoping to do at least two terms, get the PM's Pension, stay around, and when he loses try what Ingraham succeeded at doing and hijack The PLP and get the same deal Ingraham presently has! When one gets past the partisan views of who did what to spawn a PM's Pension, the truth about it all is that the public was subjected to the characters of three evil men who believed they deserved something from the public that the public doesn't even grant to itself.

They came together with their own personal agenda's with one objective in mind-to rip-off the public after having been paid handsomely by the public for a quarter of a century. But why should we be surprised? All three have been paid from public funds all of their working lives! While the world knows that Pindling was a greedy man, in Ingraham bringing forth the PM's Pension and now returning to try and be PM again, he has added a new dimension to this heist; for he has set a precedent for Christie to do the same thing, if and when he loses.

The ironic part of it all is that Ingraham and Christie could have gotten rid of Pindling 3 years after the 1997 General Elections when he died. But they wanted the money deal too and couldn't wait any longer to see Pindling's back-after all, they were trying to get rid of him from 1982! As to the question of who benefitted, the people or the con men-the way Ingraham and Christie are trying to be PM's forever and the fact that the public has to pay, the answer to that question should be painfully obvious to the ones doing the paying.
