View Full Version : What the hell!!!!
Tafadhali 10-07-06, - 08:38 AM I see why you chose to single out Dr. Nottage, but come on nah..he is by far not the only doctor breaking that and other laws here through their practices.
The Ministry of Health needs to get serious about pulling the licenses of all doctors who through their practices, violate the laws of the land - whatever those laws might be.
but this is the thing...I seriously doubt anything will come of this because as MOH he will be considered hypocritical if he did enforce the laws...and he'll open up a whole other can of worms for himself...fella is in a pickle! but then with his rationale that could be reason enough to overturn the law and put pro-choice legislation on the books seeing that there is a "need" for the service...
Tafadhali 10-07-06, - 08:40 AM These people act as if we do NOT live in the Bahamas!
LOL...
Abortion would NEVER be legal here!
NEVER EVER EVER EVER legal!
never say never.
Ting-um 10-07-06, - 09:36 AM I love how women say "its my body -- so the decision has nothing to do with you". But as soon as the baby comes they sing a different tune.
I'm not against abortion. I'm against unfair laws. Its unfair that a woman is allowed to have an abortion and the father not know just as it is unfair for a woman to have a child and force the father to pay child support. In both cases the father loses. The mother can have anyway she wants. What's even worse -- if you believe the child is yours and you make child support payments then 18 years later you find out the child isn't yours (even 2 years later) you *STILL* have to pay child support!!!!!
I'm speaking of the US of course. I sincerely hope that Bahamian men never have to suffer this injustice.

Gee..somehow I was thinking a woman got pregnant because of a man...I wonder where I got that silly asumption from? :sarcastic
Subsequently, how can a man lose by having to support HIS OWN CHILD? He does lose, however, when he doesnt have a say in whether his child is killed via abortion - this is not fair.
And you are right..it is grossly hypocritical how women say men should have no say in their choice to have an abortion, but when the baby is born, suddenly the father becomes important and needs to step up to the plate.
"Its my body" eh? No - its your BABY..and its HIS TOO.
Ting-um 10-07-06, - 09:53 AM He doesn't lose having to pay child support -- he loses because he doesn't have a choice in his responsibility.
People often say to men that if they don't want children they should wear a condom. Nobody says the same thing to women. They give them the option of abortion. If men should be accountable -- why shouldn't women also be forced to be accountable??

I agree that both persons should always behave responsibly. There are indeed double standards in this and in every human sexuality issue I suppose.
People need to understand that you make the choice to be responsible for a child when you choose to have sex, since you know sex can result in pregnancy.
Its just like making the choice to accept the responsibilty of contracting an STD when you have sex - cuz you know the risk is there..even if you use a condom.
And unlike a baby, most STDs cant be killed and dumped in an incinerator.

Man...that talk been round here so long....ya think he second name is...tingum the "fix-it" guy!!!!:gi: :gi:
bahamianpride 12-27-06, - 03:45 PM This is a fact, but weather you agree or not it is the law and I have a problem with Dr. Bernard Nottage who for years have been performing this illegal act..., he needs to account or be held accountable.
held accountable for what?
recognizing that a woman has ultimate control over her body....
try stop me if that's what i want....
i don't promote abortion i promote ALL CHOICES, INCLUDING ABORTION.
ESPECIALLY, i promote the use of common sense when having or thinking about having sex...i promote informed consent...which includes teaching your children about sex and its consequences...before they become sexually active....
so women don't have to rely on abortions ...
but if that's what a woman wants to do with her body..i'll knock you out before you stop her...
this ain't slavery NO MORE...teach women and men to make sensible decisions and choices don't legislate control over our bodies...
oh yeah its knock out time....women have been having abortions in and outside of this country for DECADES....
try lock up one of them doctors......its knock out time....we women ain't haing it....
teach a woman how to negotiate sex and control over her body and we won't need abortions....
watsayu 12-27-06, - 03:51 PM held accountable for what?
Agree or not, it is illigal, it is against our laws...., that is the issue....

i'll be knockin ya out...ANYONE who thinks they have control over my body.....
YA GA GET KNOCK OUT...
NOTTAGE AND ANY OTHER DOCTOR...performing these acts.....call Erin Greene...I GAT YA BACK......
as a feminist activist i don't promote abortions...i promote access to all options, choices, alternatives...
i promote a woman's right to chose and a woman's right to have ultimate determination about her body...
i also promote informed consent...which in some cases means teaching children about sex and its consequences before they become sexually active....
bahamianpride 12-27-06, - 05:14 PM Agree or not, it is illigal, it is against our laws...., that is the issue....
when you grow female genitalia...(ain no woman ga give up control over her body)...then you can enter the discussion...
otherwise be thankful that you are not a woman and not subject to this blatant discrimination.....the word is illegal....

I.....as a man have very little public opinion on abortion.
#1. Because it is a women's issue.
#2. Also, because I am old fashioned and do not believe in indiscriminate abortion.
But...it is the law and if pro-abortion is popular consensus it needs to be changed.
Times do change!
