the 'moral' thing to do is promote a culture of sexual awareness...
let's break the 'cultural taboos'....let's teach our children (and adults) that sex, and sexual desire is as natural as breathing and thirst and hunger....
teach them about the many benefits and consequences of sex and sexual intercourse...
inform them, prepare them to protect themselves....

You are right, we are a few days from 2007 and believe me kids are being taught about condoms, "wrapping it up" and protecting themselves.

Many schools are teaching "where babies come from", they also have peer groups as well. But the problem is, it's not working. Teenage pregnancy and AIDS is increasing...so what do we do? We go to the extreme and tell them don't have sex period. This way some will listen and some won't hopefully the stats will drop until they become more mature and responsible.

It's a similar techinque to persons with hypertension. Years ago they taught persons that a normal systolic blood pressure is 120mmHg, however, people were still getting heart disease, stroke and renal failure at large amounts even to this day. Now, they dropped it to 110mmHg, this is higher standard which many in the medical field is hoping the general public will grasp.

I always welcome the opportunity to enlighten any open minded individual about what is right and what is wrong .... but seems to me that you are a part of a Lesbian Feminist movement, as apparently represented by over the board views that flys in the face of what is traditionally deemed to be moral. they don't teach condom use in public schools...
they have to wait for students to ask before they can engage in the discussion...
and the vast majority of public posters aimed at school aged kids state abstain only...

13-24ish is the most at-risk category for hiv infection...

in the states Bush is funding programs if they are promoting a pro-abstinence message...

promoting sexual awareness is not the same as promoting sexual activity...

especially when we know are children are initiating sexual activity in the early teens and are being preyed upon...
