they don't teach condom use in public schools...
they have to wait for students to ask before they can engage in the discussion...
and the vast majority of public posters aimed at school aged kids state abstain only...
13-24ish is the most at-risk category for hiv infection...
in the states Bush is funding programs if they are promoting a pro-abstinence message...
promoting sexual awareness is not the same as promoting sexual activity...
especially when we know are children are initiating sexual activity in the early teens and are being preyed upon...

I was shock because in Nassau, my school didn't dive that deep, we were told how condoms protected us from STDs (now termed STIs) and pregnancies. They didn't wait for us to mention anything we were TOLD.

My overall point is that it is recently that they are now highly promoting abstinence because preaching condoms is not effective.

I had that class tenth grade summer...I think it was called human growth and development or health education...and the lady dr. green (this short white lady) was so animated and she put the condom on her hand...it did fit...and it was one of those cheap lifestyle condoms they away free...she did her phd dissertation on aids education or something like that...so she came with the fire to let us know the deal...well anyway...it scared us straight...funny thing is, aids is beign considered a black woman's disease and not neccessarily a gay man's anymore...dr. green had the premonition then to tell young black woman like me the deal...I am ever so greatful for her in that.

telling kids to abstain een gah cut it...shove the condoms down their throat...take them ona walking tour of the aids ward...hear stories...give them more visuals of aids...even though itss o prevalent in todays society...I told yinna 'bout my dead neighbour my age...left two kids her boyfriend and the "man in the white truck" (and his wife) with the ting...and they right behind her...and Ilet's not forget my mommy friend who had it for 15 years and many women gone down in his rush.

That is not true, I am telling you that condom use is being taught in our schools, it happened in my school and obviously taffy's...you need to get real

A few years back the Ministry of Health had a program carried out by the AIDS Secretariat where they taught teenagers about STDs/STI and safe sex (condom use) the mission was so they could have taught their peers in both private and public schools...so I have no idea where you getting your information.

I have never heard of that but I do know that if you ask any teenager in 2006 about condoms he/she would know exactly what you talking about, let's be real!!!
