So once again the media is being attacked for doing its job...

Nat’l Security Mute On Prison Report
By Quincy Parker

The Ministry of National Security has refused to comment on the findings of the report on the prison’s internal investigation into the fatal January 17 jailbreak.

Instead, National Security Permanent Secretary Mark Wilson insisted that the fact that The Bahama Journal has obtained a copy of that report is in itself an act of corruption.

Mr. Wilson adamantly refused to comment on the report – to do so, he said, would be to "collude" in what he termed the Journal’s "corruption" in obtaining a copy of the document before it is released to the public..... (http://www.jonesbahamas.com/?c=45&a=10193)

since they said this report was done back in february .. how long do they expect or want the public to wait .. perhaps another year ..?

Well, I feel if it won't interfer with the investigations what's wrong with the public being informed? It seems like they already held an Inquiry. Unless they need a scapegoat to deviate from the issue...

The report is the result of investigations held.

Hmmm so, they think it is "corrupt" that the media obtain a copy for the public??

I dont see what the problem. In order to fix the problem we all must know what the problem is. If our leaders really thought that the well being of the people mattered (even of the incarserated) the report would have been realeased. If you have to hide the report just to save your own skin (even though we know these problems spanned decades) that speakes volumes about your leadership and what you really have to hide. No one will know if our problems are solved if officially no one knows what the problems were in the first place. We all know there is no rosy picture to paint.....and no report by that jolly ZNS reporter about some minor institutional change dosent effect anything all there need to be is transparency and truth.....remember that promise?

That's why I was too surprised that an atuall statement was sent in to the Love 97 studios suring the time that the report was being discussed accusing them of some unlawful revelation of a report that been done so long ago. I wonder if these people in these Government offices really think they above freedom of speech and stuff nah.

My goodness y2k, you post some good foolishness when you are ready!

What you have said just now about needing special permission is absolutely incorrect and you will be unable to site any law to back up what you are saying - this is your opinion, and I challenge you to site the law that proves your statement correct.

Without the consent of Government Printing? Boy you jokey nah! No report done in the public's interest is to be kept from the public. And if the government chooses to delve in secrecy, its the media's job to expose it - regardless of who the govt might be.

GO GET THE PUBLIC SERVICE MANUAL OF CONDUCT.
I have mine right here in front of me.
:D

Ya wrong, and admit ya wrong!
Once it has not been given special permission to be published by the authorities. i.e. The Director, PS, and or Government Printing, IT CAN NOT, be considered official.
And if it is Published...errr... LEAKED prematurely, the persons responsible MUST be held accountable.
I am liking that word in bold already!

Ready to serve what again??

I said site the law my dear..not an employment manual of conduct for civil servants. And if there was a breach in the employment handbook, it was a breach by a public service officer, not the Bahama Journal.

Now I'll ask again, this time s-l-o-w-e-r..lol..site the LAW PLEASE..you said it is illegal;)

Gotta agree with you on that one. No "law" was broken on behalf of the media. In fact the Manual yk2bad talkin bout is an agreement btween employer and employee.... Das were Gov't legal argument ends. Threatening the media is beyond their reach in this regard. So yes Gov't was wrong for the accusations, they need to go find that public service officer who sell dem off bfore they could of hid the true report. Most likely it's one of their previous supporters who they end up pissin off anyway.....That's usually the situation anyway.
