View Full Version : Parents 2 Slack!
dacy2003 10-16-07, - 05:08 PM Thanks guys, I have 4 children and I believe if I do this and the need araise someone will do the same for my children.
I believe this is how we should live, I wish we would all do little something to HELP EACH OTHER, there is to much fighting going on and so many children hurting.
I follow the teaching of the Bible and this is what it means to be Christ-like, doing for the least...I wish more believers would focus on healing and helping, this is where the glory is!
Sentinel 10-26-07, - 03:06 PM I went to ScotiaBank on Jerome Avenue at 10AM...n there's a lil boy bout 7/8 sitting by the curb of the Drive-Thru ABM lane stopping people askin em if he can clean their car for two dollars. :realmad: a lil bui...n dun hustlin.
I had ta laugh cuz i thought he was jokin first but when i told him i ain ga be in da bank dat long he say if he could have two dollars den. I asked shawty why he ain in school n wut he doin round here asking people fa money n homie tell me say he "ain doin nuttin."
Kids falling tru da cracks right in front of our eyes n parents still ain gettin dey act together. With all the crime gern on its easy to imagine couple years from now that that same kid could potentially be doin the same thing or worse or that the ones doin all dis darkness round here had the same "SUPERVISION" during THEIR youth...and we still wasting time arguin bout PLP n FNM ta blame fa crime.
So i wonder....do school's notify parents when their kids are not in school? How do parents justify not having a child in school getting an education unless they are sick or some other valid reason? Dese some serious times jed.
Kudos to you with kids n are tryin ta bring em up right...cus God knows sometimes it really does look like nobody else seriously tryin.
Yep for real, this is happening all over Nassau. I was outside Kellys recently in the middle of the day and a small kid was walking around outside asking people for money for food .. sad ..

And when they get older, the begging stops and the thiefin begins
androsann 10-26-07, - 04:23 PM All government schools were closed yesterday and today for mid-term break, so assuming that he attends one of those he didn't actually have to be in school today.
As far as letting parent's know things, all schools send letters home, but whether or not they get there is another story.
You might be surprised as well, at how many folks change their telephone number/place of employment/address during their child's years of schooling and never think to tell the school!
All you parent's out there, have any important details about you and how to contact you changed since your child started at their present school? Have you let the school know? and please don't expect the child to remember to tell teacher that Mommy has a new cell phone number.
fruitfulpointandros 10-28-07, - 06:14 PM Maybe we need to rambo such children, report the incident to the police while holding the child until the police arrive; this may shame the parents to fly right and cut the slackness.
The police? I was driving through Southern New Providence one night at about 9:45pm, when I saw a group of boys who looked to be between the ages of 7-10yrs of age. They were lighting firecrackers in the middle of the streets. I stopped and told them to go inside of their homes, they told me they dont live in the area. So I called a Police Station. An officer who identified himself told me that a Police Inspector lives through the corner and hung up.
fasttract 10-30-07, - 03:44 PM I just saw something today that really angered me.
I was at home when I heard a knock at my door. When I went to the door a young girl no more than 10/12 I guess, was there asking me if I wanted to sponsor her school.
I looked around to see if anyone was with her..and she was alone.
Now what angered me was this - how are you gonna let your child go out alone knocking on the doors of strangers asking them for money?
Whats to stop someone from pulling that child into their home and raping her or worse?
I just dont get why some Bahamian parents are so slack and irresponsible with their children!!
two many of are parents are children themself so they just don't have that parents skilless.a lot of our bahamian parents started having kids in their teens
years and just don't have the know how on how to raise a child.in no way should a girl child be knocking at a stranger door asking for money i agree with you.She should have been accompanyed by and adult. Many bahamian parents act as if they just don't care what happen to their children.i was recently in nassau and there are five years old still in the road playing at 10pm in the night.i ask my self were on earth can there parents be.sure they might be close to home ,in some parts of the world kid are taken from there home and are gone forever.we as a people as to do a better job then we do now.come on!

The police hang up on you? The Officer must have been having a bad day. Maybe the Police are not the right Institution to call...Social Services should be called. The Police have rapists and murderers and politicians to track, no time for civil matters...
Lady_chippie 10-30-07, - 05:33 PM My heart is so weak when it comes to kids!
If a child came up to me and asked me to buy them something to eat I would, I just could not let the child go hungry.
As for parents sending thier kids around asking for help, come on man!!!! (there are some freaks out there!!)
I know for one we all can hit hard times and I am a very reasonable person (If approached in the right way) I would help in anyway I can !!
Then there are those tricksters (so called parent/s) that piss me off, who lie to get what they want through thier kids !

Rory
Yes it is sad indeed and I know WE are not responsible for the neglect which falls upon these kids because of thier parents but HONESTLY I would have fed the child if I had it, not given them money but bought him/her some food.
I see it like this, NOT all the kids are up to no good but some are REALLY hungry and ..........

Another thing that upsets me is seeing a young child on an oversized bike trying to tote grocery bags on each of handles causing him/her to wobble in and out of the road.

Look. Why these people have yall turn against each other so? Regardless of what yinna say, the gubment have a responsibility to STOP CRIME.
Don't let them turn you onto each other; blaming each other as bad parents. We need to blame these animals on the streets, as well as the law enforcement who refuse to take out these animals.
