Man, the garbage collectors havent been around my neighbourhood in maybe about 3 weeks. We got like loads of bags in the pen area and it doesnt look like it can hold anymore. Are they still having a shortage?

Didnt a while back the BDM put out some proposal to outsource garbage collection to different companies. That sounds like that would be good right now, becuase I remember maybe a month ago, Pinder talking about the shortage of trucks and how they cost $100,000+ each.

Gosh man! How do you guys deal with that?? That must cause health concerns in your area no doubt - not mention the negative affect that would have on how people feel about their neighbourhoods.

Where do you live? I had trouble with collections a few weeks ago. I called and since then they come every week.

Look in the blue pages of the phone book under Department of Environmental Health Services (page 6) I think I called Solid Waste Management Division 341-1967 if that is not the right number they will put you on to the correct one but be ready to tell your story a number of times.

Be nice! Tell them you know they are having trouble with their trucks and you sympathize, but the garbage is piling up and do you think they could send a truck around soon? Tell them you are concerned about the rats and dogs spreading the garbage around.

It is my experience that if you have garbage you have rats. I don’t care if you keep it in a safe with an armed cat out front. :cop: The rats may not be able to get to it by they will be attracted to the smell and for every one you see there will be fifty that you don’t see.

LOL .. most these rats round here can take a cat and a dog together ..
yeah my neighbors got a large pen area garbage enclosure. .. but thats where all the rats by me come from .. i see them running around during the day like stray potcakes ..

Forget the cats! What you need is snakes! They dont eat all the rats. They are not like us, they dont eat all their food, they leave some for later but they do bring the ecosystem into balance. I have identified seven different snakes in my yard and we have a balance rat problem.
