How did we get from “Interracial Romance” to “discombobulation” (okay, I admit, I had to look this up – according to “Webster’s New Universal Unabridged Dictionary”, “discombobulate” means “to upset, confuse, frustrate”!).

Sorry, I can’t be bothered reading all of these postings. All I would like to say is that my husband and I are friends with many happily married interracial couples and one expression from many years ago always sticks in my mind. I had a friend who was white and her husband was black. She told me that one day her little daughter asked her: “Mummy, you’re white and Daddy is black. What does that make me?!” My friend said she answered her daughter: “Beautiful!”

http://www.bahamaswriter.com (http://www.bahamaswriter.com/)BahamasWriter, thank you for your input. I am puzzled at your discombobulation! If you have not read all the posting perhaps that is why?

All we are striving to do is to find an answer and a solution to satisfy our own minds. However, as we touched on Eastern thought I can agree with you. It can be confusing, not to mention frustrating, to our Western trained intellects. However, I think it is worth the effort to try to understand it. Perhaps when YorickBrown has finished reading his book he can tell us, yes or no to that.

Gemmanyah started this posting suggesting that interracial unions were against God design. In the end, all we can do is agree or disagree but what I want to know is the "why." "Why" is it that one person has no problem with it and another has great problems with it. YorickBrown suggested that it is because of ignorance. I cannot disagree with him.

Your story of the Mother and daughter was wonderful. To other minds it might be sickening! Why? I want to know why such reactions, positive or negative. It is only by talking about it that we will achieve any insight.

I “speed-read” the postings, but could not digest them  Sorry  My comments were not meant as criticism. I’m not an academic. I guess I think with my heart :cutie: Anyway, don’t let me stop you guys from continuing your scholastic discussion. I’ve had my little say and I’ll bid you farewell for now :bye:

I think that you should be more selective in what kind of books you read, since it obviously does something to your brain.

Please promise me that you don read Mein Kampf written by Adolf Hitler

Honestly people like you make me feel sick!! I am becoming more and more aware that pepole has not learned anything from holocost or any other form of rasism when i read your words.

Interracial Romance

The Tower of Babel is one example of what happens to homogeneous people who are integrated and all become one. This is one argument and a strong biblical one against the unification of one people globally as a rule. This example does not support the across the board unification of people. It bears a strong argument and need for separateness.

Why God made the various races is made clearer to me by the above example. This philosophy must still apply today as it did in the last 1000 years in biblical days.

Is this the reason why my own interracial dating experience ended in just that, a quick experience? My own experience ended in a few dates and wonderful interracial sexual experiences. The more I think about it the more I am convinced that there is a purpose for the separateness of races and people.

The fact is too that the purpose is not necessarily a personal or detrimental one. It is one mandated by the creator himself.

As Henry David Thoreau in Walden Pond put it,” The less proximity we have in communications with other human beings, the better we understand each other and get along.”

As I grow older I am allowed to enjoy my independence in the modern world and taught by habit to rely on my own strengths and instinctive ness as a human being. This proves further the reason for racial separateness.

So be strengthened if your one world, one unified people concept is not working for you. There’s a historical and biblical reason.

God is love. and love crosses all barriers. we are all one.

Can somebody please tell me what your God actually stands for in this matter.
As it seems to me after reading this i really cant believe any of it, and i hope that nobody believes in this crap. That is if its so written.
I like to call this pure racism.

gemmanyah makes an interesting point that falls far outside of the judgment calls being rained down on his head right now. i don't see that he's saying that interracial couples are a bad idea at all. i see him saying that races that are separate are that much stronger than if they were to mix it up and dilute the strengths common to each race, that's all.

from a purely cosmetic point of view, for an example, i much prefer denzel washington's strong pure blackness to that of cuba gooding's potcake mix of everything under the sun. does preferring a pure black person or a pure scottish person make one racist, per se? i have no issue with anyone dating or loving or marrying whoever they want to, mind you. i just think that gemmanyah makes an interesting observation that has everything to do with being separate and equal ... vs. separate because of a perception of inferiority or superiority. interesting discussion.

I hope I am wrong but I am afraid it is worse! He is saying it is against God’s plan. Of course any glance of a KKK or manybe an NAACP, site would say the same thing!

having read several of gemmenyah's books, 'romance, kalik and conch salad' in particular, and i really think that i can say without a doubt that he has nothing personally against interracial dating per se. i believe that he is posing a rhetorical question for debate and discussion ... rather than dictating that such a relationship is against 'god's design.'

I'll take your word for that but I wish he would say it!

Wow!!! This is a very interesting thread!!! Thank you gentleman and ladies for your forthright thoughts and I must say that God has Blessed us all with the ability to recognize the differences in each other and the ability to draw from those differences great wisdom, love, and respect of each other. It is like the 'Garden of Life', he planted us all here to create a beautiful bouquet but sometimes there are the 'weeds' that try to come in and destroy us all. I am happy that I can honestly look at a person and love and respect them by the way they project themselves no matter how they dress, talk, look, smell (might hand em some smell good), walk or how they pray to their God. In any culture, race, religion or nation there will be a 'weed' that because of their upbringing or past experience would like to 'throw off' on a similarity/similar person that reminded them of a bad experience.. and try to stereo type us. Those that can 'get over' those times can move on and move upward.. with love and respect for each other as individuals. I was raised in Andros and was the only 'white' girl there but they were my 'family' and I was welcomed and loved and we did not see any differences except.. I was the one with freckles and silky long angel curl hair! It was when I came back to the US that they saw me different...that I talk like a bahamian and didn't agree with the nonsense that they were talkin about! As far as biblical reasoning, interracial marriages have been going on since then and with the permission of God.

Thanks for your posting. It is a good thing when "new" people join us. They add a new breath of life to old postings. Nice to see!
